Words, words, words.
I think this thread is what has finally done it for me.

A few things of note before that:

1.) Nobody cares. Your chest beating "look at my life" bravado doesn't count for shit here.

2.) Do you even have a point to all of this? I also work in IT in software development, except instead of focusing on "problems" that nobody has and offering no solution at the same time, my team focuses on defeating technical debt and actual obstacles. You're exactly the kind of person who doesn't offer any meaningful contribution to any project I've ever been on due to an inability to focus on the project instead of some idiotic detail nobody cares about with no clear benefit, but have been forced to work with anyways; because management.

3.) I'm dumping this community because of people like you, but not totally because of you; so don't give yourself too much credit. As Dyn085 and Hijinx mentioned earlier, there has been a long standing push to move this platform/community to an opinion-based hive mind that focuses on following trends and swallowing the latest garbage that a vendor will put out without asking real questions and (God forbid) data to prove their shit actually works. But no, we're obsessed with bullshit "stages" and cosmetic modifications more than we are actually innovating the platform. You people fight about intakes and downpipes (if only you people knew how much sales margin comes out of perpetuating this crap) and wasting money on horseshit when you can just get a damned intercooler, bolt on a bigger turbo (A real one), and get a tune for it to make more power and spend less money than this staged crap. It's not that hard to figure this shit out.

Opinions don't equate facts. They never will. I see this shit in society all over the place. It needs to end because it is stunting progress.

Oh one more thing...

You're wrong. Flat out wrong.

I've come to the conclusion that you have no interest in actually validating anything you've said and you are uniquely and singularly argumentative with no goal in mind. Therefore, the only recourse I have is to assume you speak solely out of your ass, and I have no reason to apportion to you any trust or respect.
Hijinx,

This is where your wrong. It is not the Access Port Montune, or Maxd out that defines how our cars function. All they are is a tool and all are of the same design. HP Tuners is the does the exact same thing expect does it exceptionally better and accesses much more of the system. The commonality between the two is they are both ODB2 systems. If you understand the underlying system of one odb2 system then you understand all of them. Im am perfectly ok with being called wrong. As soon as Craig from FEV calls me back when he gets back in town, I post what he has to say about it. Maybe if it is not coming from me, it will carry more weight.

For all the talk about people making this an opinion based community, dyn085 you are one to talk. You ripped my review of the Pierce bars effect on traction though your car doesn't even have the mod. That is opinion based with zero data. Btw I contacted Pierce and they told me that folks from the Ford and Mazda community have reported improved traction with the 2 point brace.

The truth is that we all have opinions. I see it as no reason to demean each other. I can disagree with dyn085 or Hijinx or Antarctica and still be willing to have a good conversation about cars and show respect.

Everyone chill and have a nice evening.

Like I said WTF have you done. Airplanes have nothing to do with automotive technology. BTW how's that MAP sensor working at 15,000 feet? Data doesn't mean anything if you don't understand how to interpret the data and how to apply it. Anyone can do a data log but if you don't understand the rest of the systems the computer is using and how they relate your data is out of context.
I think it's neat that you recognize how my irrelevant history is irrelevant but don't recognize how your irrelevant history is.

The main difference, however, is that I'm not trying to use my irrelevant experience to quantify my side of the discussion-I'm using actual data from the platform.

I thought I had so if not let me do that here. I humbly acknowledge that dyn085 has more experience than I do with tuning a ecoboost motor on a car he owns which my understanding is he owns a fusion with ecoboost, a focus st, and a fiesta st and he has much more experience data logging his ecoboost cars that I do. There is no way I would question your ability to data log. Shit I would be willing to pay you to teach me how to use the damn thing. I just got the thing to show the meters I wanted see. I know absolutely nothing about the access port. I am a certified expert on the odb2 architecture and how it functions. I am an expert on hptuners. Odb2 is odb2 it is a standard across many platforms including dodge, ford, and Gm and many others. It matter not the software you use to access it. Im certain if you really think about it being the airplane maintence person you are what happens on a speed density tune (using only map sensors to tune with) if your in NC and you tune your car and then Drive to Denver and don't retune and try to drive your car? Don't answer keep it to yourself. It's the same reason on a retrofitted mustang plane single prop with a v8 and computer. Ask yourself if the engine was controlled by a map sensor only why would it not work as you flew at 500 feet versus 10000 feet? Don't rsspond just think about it. I'm not saying anything other than giving something to think about.

You know we could just agree to disagree. I don't know if your ego will allow that. You have a lot of potentatial. You just come across the wrong way in your approach. You and I can walk away from this and be great friends. I'll even let you call me names. You have nothing to prove and neither to I. I'm not trying to beat you up. I just didn't appreciate your absolute approach wrong or not. I promise I'll get you the information from the right people and you can do what you want to with the information.

Let's move on and figure out what needs to be done to get a constant 12 volt lead and accessory lead from the factory head unit so we can plug up a real head unit.

LOL, my check engine light came on shortly after starting my car to drive home. Here's a shot of the code-

Needless to say, I'm still going to drive the whole way home with my MAF sensor unplugged, it's only 35 miles.

Oh, look. Air flow is measured somehow.

Scent from Glade Air Freshener
I laughed when I saw it this morning when I first drove with it unplugged. #Math

Were you able to get the second sheet to open? It wouldn't open on Datazap on my laptop for some reason. I had to split the file into two workbooks because the ~50k of lines exceeded the maximum 5mb upload of Datazap. Maybe I have to outright delete the first 25k lines (I just copied them over to another book and left the lines blank)?

Anyways, the intake air temp defaults to 40 degrees with the sensor unplugged. I don't know what other changes occur with the ECU code being active because I've never really had a need to explain it to anyone or know...but maybe I'll look around to find out when my workload drops a bit.

Either it's not working or datazap is extremely slow.

Let's be clear about this-in no way am I trying to get any form of recognition or acknowledgement for anything. I try to share as much information as I can with the community to try and help the community become more knowledgeable about the platform-nothing more, nothing less. I'm not right 100% of the time, no one is, and when I'm wrong I can acknowledge that if there is legitimate data showing why. Conversely, I only hope that when I'm right that people can understand why, learn from it, and continue to share and grow knowledge about the platform.

As for datalogging, I've already created multiple threads about how to do it, how to control your variables for repeatable tests/results, how to troubleshoot, how to evaluate your fuel...for free. I don't care for, need, or want money from anyone in the community. If you just don't know how to set up the AP3 for datalogging then hit the button above the circular button when your gauges are up and select the option that says something about datalog configuration. Cobb has a list of what the parameters list is and what they're monitoring. If it's something else then just ask.

The ECU absolutely can and will adjust for altitude density. Are there any high-attitude versions of our car available for sale that you're aware of?

Finally, we can't agree to disagree about whether the ECU is a MAP-based or MAF-based tune, that would be like trying to agreed to disagree whether it's a Ford or Chevrolet. That should be self-explanatory.

Ok, I guess we will just agree to not disagree about agreeing.

Actually, I realize now, that there is one thing I do respect about you. Your conviction to "stay the course" is impressive. You go down with ship, and that's honorable. But, as Henry IV said, discretion is the better part of valor.

Oh no my friend the ship is still afloat were just waiting on some information from the source.
I'm just tying to tone down the conversation.
