It’s broken so I blew its doors off. He has 295 square so it’s kinda hard to stay anywhere near it when it runs. It was pretty humid this weekend so my car struggled to make power. I got a little frustrated because I could only manage consistent 41s. Thats fast but there is more in it. My clutch still needs to be bled correctly so I need to find someone who can do it. That cost me time along with beat RT660s. Excuses aside, I had an absolute ball. There’s nothing better than open track at Road Atlanta. So much time!!!
What problem did you have with the wavetrack diff from what I heard they work quite well

Low speed performance on 90 degree corner exit under WOT. It doesn’t lock like I hoped it would. It’s better than my old traditional helical diff in most places but ultimately a clutch style diff is what I prefer. I want the wheels to lock immediately on corner exit and the Wavetrac doesn’t do that perfectly.

It always does. Inevitably people come to see it at lunchtime because they're confused. “Is that a Focus or Festiva?” is ALWAYS their question.
This. Literally this. I am NOT a professional driver but I do have more balls on track then most people with more expensive cars so they always compliment and come over to check it out lol.

Yeah I still got plenty of spin at Hallett T2 and at autocross with the 245 falkens, but at least it's not one wheel peeling. Think I'm going to go back to -3 deg from -3.5 up front, but a clutch type diff would definitely be ideal for strictly track use. I think Slyez used a Gripper in his TT build.

now I'm not sure if the Wavetrack diff is worth its price here in Europe the Quaife is a popular option because of its low price and I might go for that. it's just disappointing that the Wavetrack doesn't work as they market it. I don't want to go for a plated diff as they can be problematic example of this is what Sparkplug Steve when true. but many have a plated diff and are fine i guess it's up to luck and maintenance. from what I read plated diffs need a lot of maintenance.

The Wavetrac IS BETTER than a regular helical at speed but it isn’t as good as a clutch diff for track use. Plenty of people have success with clutch diffs. I wouldn’t necessarily base my decision on one guy’s bad experience. For example, my Pumaspeed X47 has been going strong for many years and thousands of track miles but if you read this forum most people suggest they suck and should be avoided. Most problems are caused by installation errors or poor maintenance however sometimes parts are defective..

Yeah I find that with alot of stuff. Usually it is installation error/poor maintenance and the person whos complaining always leaves that part out of course :LOL: Granted I have the GTX 2860r but if theres bad stuff about that I haven't seen it yet.

My buddy’s 2860 broke but he’s not on the internet so it doesn’t count. I’ve seen multiple broken turbos from other brands too but no one cares. After coaching kids for a couple of years I realized the loudest ones suck the most.

So would you say that the Wavetrac is the best LSD for the FiST for mixed use in street & track?

Assuming the best LSD for the FiST for track only duty would be a clutch diff?

Yeah for multi use I’d go Wavetrac over anything else available right now.

You’re welcome. My intention from the beginning was to share and help others who enjoy modifying this platform. I’ve learned so much about this car and it’s taught me how to enjoy FWD. I tried posting and commenting on FB pages but found too many ignorant people chime in just to be combative and immature. I’m glad this forum is still active with a lot of great people who love the Fiesta ST and don’t hesitate sharing good information. I’ve had this car a long time and still absolutely love every minute behind the wheel wether it’s on the track or on the street. I still stare at in the garage too. Cheers!

Where did you find your bumper latches im looking to go with 235's i just dont know what latches to trust
They’re not latches actually, they’re dress-up bolts from https://downstarinc.com/ with rivnuts. I built a custom bracket after cutting all the OEM mounting structure out to clear the taller 235/40/17. Good luck! It’s a lot of work but worth it.

Nankang AR1s are awesome! They were right. Hopefully they last long but time will tell. They’re fast though and consistent for about 15min of hard use. Like most semi slicks they aren’t audible so driving by feel is essential. I’m definitely satisfied with them and pretty sure it’ll be my go-to tire for the foreseeable future. I shaved a little over second off my PB in extreme heat at Road Atlanta. I suspect they’ll be awesome in the Spring and Fall. Phils Tire sells them in 215/40/17 and 235/40/17 so go get ‘em!
