FMIC is not worth it on stock turbo, unless you going to track the car.
Intercoolers are not about power gains, they are about improving consistency and recovering lost hp.

You get a huge power gain with stage 2 which is just and intercooler and intake
You're missing my point here.
Drifter said an IC is not worth it at all - which simply isn't true, and that's what I was getting at. The car will get a lot back out of having a more efficient intercooler and better heat exchange.

Now. Onto the technicality of it. By improving the consistency of the aircharge temp, you'll reduce the power drop seen when you do dyno pull #4 or 5 as the car gets hot, and the improved efficiency of the core alone will return power normally lost to the stock IC.

So it's not technically a gain - but the end result is that an intercooler is totally worth doing - and you will experience increased power after installing one - with a stock turbo or a bigger one. which was my point.

Yeeeesh man, might want to come down off that soap box before you get confused for one of those 'elite nose in the air boxer owners'. Ford isn't where Cobb's bread and butter is. It is, however, with Subaru, Nissan, and other badges. Be glad we have a few performance shops that are willing to even work on our vehicles.
Tooling, production costs, return on investment.

As much as I love to be the enthusiast's advocate, there's the business side of the argument to consider as well. How many of us can there possibly be? Didn't Ford make only like 5k Fiesta ST's for the USA for the 2014 production year? I could be wrong but that's what I remember seeing offhand. That number seems low, considering the cost of tooling up to make stuff and actually getting it produced and then sent to the distribution centers. a lot goes into it. Tooling can cost between 10k and 50k depending on the item, so you need to know you're going to make that back with whatever you're selling.
Sorry lessard, I hear you..but this man understands manufacturing costs and overhead...just because we want it, doesn't mean they will make it ...what if there we're only 200 FiST owners???? That equals no parts...does not equate...either way fellas....got my mountune FULL INTAKE coming in, and I will pair that with the install of the CHARGE PIPES...and I'm stuck in traffic..I'm only having fun on on ramps and off ramps...and the occasional pull of the line with rabbit owners who are willing to get burnt 0-40...or maybe I lost.....................

Stop!!! I want to know...and someone needs to tell me...when is a bigger intercooler necessary? I am installing the mountune full intake and charge pipes....am I forcing hotter air than necessary into me engine???

Yes... You'll increase flow through the airbox, but your gains may be lost at the intercooler if it can't meet that increase (believe they claim 31%). The main reason the intercooler is done as a stage 2 before a full intake is because it's then setup for further increases, but more importantly, the charge air temps will be considerably lower regardless of whether your commuting or racing since there's less heat soak, increased flow and increased cooling efficiency. The cooler the air temps going in, the more power can be extracted under any conditions.

Smoking Tire testing Cobb Stage III Fiesta ST package - Downpipe + Catback Ex...

It's kind of like the difference between running 87 octane or 93. You can put the same amount of fuel in but the power is less because you can only take advantage of an 87 octane fuel map vs a 93 octane map with the same amount of fuel. The difference is that by putting cooler/more dense air in the fuel maps can increase fuel slightly to match the air. An intake might increase the volume of air that can flow through, but if it's hot air, your gains are not being maximized in comparison to what you get out of an intercooler upgrade it's not as substantial.

As mentioned in the link I'm very surprised COBB hasn't come out with their intake and intercooler yet, people waiting to just stick with them can't use the stage 3 tune till then [???:)]
