Ford MyTouch to Sync3 With CarPlay Upgrade

Hi Guys have just done a sync 3 upgrade from sync 1 on my AUDM Fist. Having a few minor issues. I dont know what line top enable hill start assist in the APIM? Also sport mode I have that originally with sync 1 however not with sync 3 installed I can use the button but not sure if it changes or not. We also have DDM instead of TPMS which relies on wheel speed instead of actualy tyre pressure to guess if youve got a a flat. Anyway any help would be appreciated

My local yard has two 2016 FiSTs. Can I just grab the parts from one of those, and be set? Or should I try and find a 2017+? I'd like to have a backup camera.

Edit: I got a screen from a 2017 FiST with Nav for $140 and I bought a new USB hub from Ford for $90. We'll see how it goes.

You need the screen with matching AIPM module it's attached to.

I bought all the parts I needed from a junkyard, ebay, and amazon. I had a non nav APIM and screen from a 2018 FiST, and installed them and it functioned but not properly, the compass didn't work, it wouldnt hold memory, and sometimes when I started the car, randomly the system wouldnt turn on. After several attempts to buy another APIM from other yards (and recieving the wrong pieces), I put Sync 2 back in it and put the Sync 3 stuff on the shelf. I looked into Naviupgrade and began communicating with Brian the owner, I ended up puchasing an APIM with nav from him and couldnt be happier, he programmed it for me and even put my vehicles VIN into it, I also had it within a day and a half and hes in California and Im in New York. I now have a base FiST with nav and carplay android auto with the latest version of Sync and updated maps plus my APIM is jailbroken and I have a video player and am able to put custom backgrounds. I also have just a little more money into it as I would have anyway. If anyone has a 14 or 15 Fiesta, or any Ford with MFT for that matter I highly recommend them. The system works great, and the customer support is even better.

Done. Everything seems to work great, although sometimes I get a Navigation error, but I’ll never use factory Nav, CarPlay was the whole point.

After the upgrade, the option no longer exists, even after activating the option in APIM module. However, the warning light on the panel is normal. Can anyone help?

I think he meant did you do a master reset? Either from menu or pull the fuse. It should be reset after you change anything in ForScan.

I swapped from a 2014 MyTouch unit to an updated Sync unit. Everything works as expected. It came from another member that performed the upgrade. Is there anything else I need to do? Was able to get android auto just fine.

You can switch the USB hub to the newer design. They also sell adapter cables so no wire cutting involved. It's not 100% needed but I believe it has the newer USB connectors i.e. faster charging. Plus you don't need the map socket any more as it doesn't work with the Sync 3 setup. Your call though. Like I said not 100% needed.

The Sync 2 antenna is not compatible with the Sync 3 system or maybe its just a different connector...can't remember.

Just finished this upgrade on my 2014. Just a few pointers: Scour eBay using all different search types. Searching "Fiesta 6.5 screen" ended up showing me with the title: "FIESTA 6.5" touch screen display G1BT-18B955-TC w/ module J2BT-14G370-ABA 17". Investigated further and saw that one of the photos was of a smashed ST, yet nothing in the ad said ST. Hit up the seller and they confirmed it was from the wrecked ST. got the screen and module for 200. So, dig deep.

Get the USB conversion harness, forget soldering. The USB port is a PITA to get out. Instead of trying to pop it out from the top, use pry tools to pop up the panel that it sits in, then reach under with your fingers and pop it up from the bottom.

Looks like everywhere is splitting all the parts to nickle and dime us. And the listings say screen, control panel. Only calling will tell you what is what and most have removed the APIM. Really want to do this mod but seems like I'll be buying and returning a ton of stuff in the hopes I get what I need.
