Ford MyTouch to Sync3 With CarPlay Upgrade

My 2014 obviously came with MFT, and about 2 years ago my screen went out, wouldn’t respond to touch commands. I went out and got a screen and apim off a 2016 from a salvage yard that was selling on eBay. They listed the VIN off that ST so I went to the ford site and downloaded the new SYNC 3.0 software. I also used a sync2 to sync3 adapter that utilized the new apple car play hub. All plug and play. When I installed the screen and went to settings and SYNC information it still said the old VIN for the last ST it was on. After a while I messed with forescan and changed the splash screen and added climate controls. Now my VIN shows up under SYNC settings. Best upgrade got the screen and APIM for $180

Nice. Mine is still working and updates great. So much into making it right that should have been the case from the factory.

Hey guys... I'm a new owner of a 2015 Fiesta and desperately want to do this upgrade.
The wrecker I've been in touch with is being specific with part numbers. See images.
I dunno how to check which are what and what they have/have not. Anyone have any insight or where to look?

Just want to come back to add some more confusion to this thread. I ended up finding a used Sync 3 setup that was plug and play. However after installing a GPS antenna, my location is still locked to the place where the headunit was removed (another state) and Forscan is telling me there’s a DTC for a gps antenna open circuit.

The second weird issue I’m having is I cannot add the climate controls with Forscan. I can change the numbers but nothing changes on the head unit.

I’d love any help on either of these two issues but I’m not holding my breath.

Ford MyTouch USB/SD card hub and connector

New USB Hub and wiring

Wiring transcribed from one connector to the other

Soldering them up!

New USB Hub - as I wanted the Apple CarPlay functionality for this upgrade I had to go and buy the latest and greatest USB hub which was plug and play once the wiring was sorted. The part number for the Apple CarPlay USB is HC3Z-19A387-B - there are a couple options as I think there is a Lincoln specific hub which as white lights... this one is blue and as my car is blue, I was happy with it.

Just so I understand, you cut off all those wires from the one plug and just re-use 2 of them??

that looks like it's it to me. Even comes with the tools. Just $332 total. Doesn't appear to be missing anything to me.

ETA: The $332 is just for the screen. Nearly $700 for the whole package.

This kind of appears to still be the best deal I can find. I'm having absolutely zero luck finding anything newer than a 2016(most with older sync APIM) at a junk yard here on the west coast.

I also haven't had much luck on ebay recently either. Everything is 8" screen. I haven't been able to spot a 6.5" in a while.

I guess $700 isnt terrible since it comes with everything you'll need.

Hello!
I made the modification from SYNC1 on a Ford Fiesta 2014 Europe to SYNC3 (taken from USA from a Fiesta 2016/2017).
I have a few questions about the SYNC3 that I take it from USA from a 2016/2017 Fiesta and I didn't find the information (the programming for my car was made by a friend who knows and understand very well the Fords, so we didn't find something relevant for the below questions):
1. the option for auto foldable mirrors is missing from the sync3 menu, but still works on locking/unlocking the car or when I press the driver door button for them; did someone found how to have this option appear in the menu?
2. option for DDS/TPMS is not appearing in the sync3 menu, but the option was still valid, but I deactivated because if I have a flat tire, I didn't have the option to reset. It can be activated somehow to appear in the sync3 menu?
3. The time of the sync3 is not saving the time when the car is not running, when I insert the key and move to the second position, the right time is displayed. Have someone identified this problem and how can be resolved?
Thank you!

Not sure folding mirrors will exist on a us version. We don't have folding mirrors.

I've noticed a time issue with mine. If my phone's not connected it's stuck on east coast time because it's a nav unit and I have no antenna. Could this be your issue?

1. Related to the power fold mirrors, I think this is the answer: if the Sync 3 was just in the US and these type of mirrors are not an option there, it is also not an option for the Sync 3 menu.
2. Related to the time, this is just when I enter in the car, until I turn on the engine or accesories or turn off. For example, now here is 18:13 and the time on the Sync 3 display, with engine turnes on is 3:26, but when I turn it on, the time is 18:13, as it should be, even the phone is or not connected to the system.
3. I read that some users had this problem with DDS/TPMS option which was not present anymore after conversion. In fact, I can have the DDS activated, but if I’ll have a flat tire, after I resolve the problem I should reset the DDS through the Sync 3 menu, but I can’t; so does anybody know how to gave this option in the Sync 3 menu? I onow that can be activated from Fiesta Mk8 (2018->, but in that car, the TPMS or DDS is present on the driver cluster, not on the Sync 3.

I thin tou are right with the phone: the time is ok when is connected, but is nok when is not

DDS is Deflation Detection System and it works on the ABS sensors (you don’t need a wheel sensor), and read the rotations from the wheels and if a wheel is deflated, the rotations will be less than the other wheels, so the indicator lamp (tyre pressure) will appear. In this case, in order to reset it, you go in the sync menu, vehicle settings, then Deflation Detection System and then you need to keep pressed ok from the keyboard in order to reset it, after the tyre is resolved. This is how it worked when I had Sync 1, I activated DDS instead of TPMS due to the tyres set change from winter-summer. But now, if I keep activated the DDS and a tyre will be deflated, even if I’ll resolve the flat, I can’t reset the system in order to keep the ABS values in memory. See attachement
