Installed my stainless MBRP exhaust 2 weeks ago, I think the only vehicle that I've been in that resonated worse was a buddies gutted 280Z with solid diff mounts. I'm very sure this isn't me getting old as my other vehicles are loud, I like it loud...this is a TOTALLY different loud.

It's actually not that loud, I'm pretty sure my Yaris with custom exhaust is louder and it's definitely not as loud as my Supra...it's the resonance that's just horrible. Once you're out of the range where the whole car isn't vibrating this exhaust sounds absolutely amazing. I have no idea how people actually enjoy this exhaust, I can appreciate that each person's tastes are different so I guess I shouldn't wonder. I should have known better but I got a killer deal on it so decided to give it a shot. Won't be staying on the car that long as I'd rather have the factory system than this.

I have a very decent quality decibel meter that I use for product testing, going to actually run it in a few cars to see what the reading is. Has anyone done this?

PS...if you enjoy going for drives with "the mrs" this exhaust is NOT for you. Mine is used to my loud cars, she's not picky at ALL and loves a good sounding exhaust; but HATES the ST w/MBRP. NOT that we should let our significant others pick our parts [neener]...just thought I'd ad that in.

I just bought this exhaust the other day. My main concern was a terrible sound like a 90's Honda. The videos posted all seem to display a more burbley sound which is good. Now lets hope I am not too "old man" like and can stand the higher DB levels. Worst case I guess I will throw a resonator on there. Anyone else try to add a resonator to their setup?

I agree with MK2George. When I had my MBRP, I was really hating my car. Sounded great from the outside, but I was miserable when driving the car.

I added a Magnaflow muffler to the rear of the system which helped reduce the noise some, but it was still too loud and droned too much so I just sold it.

I put mine on, could not take the drone, went back to stock. No change in performance logs.

Then decided to go Cyborg, thought larger exhaust might be useful, plus stock did not offer enough auditory feedback for me tracking.

Put MBRP back on with Vibrant resonator at tail and single outlet. Still too drony at highway cruise, but way better than original.

This week I replaced the original resonator with the Vibrant and added a Vibrant straight through muffler to tail. Quiet deep tone idle, loud on throttle, still drones some but better than it was.

Have track day tomorrow, will see how it behaves at speed.

I was weighing buying this exhaust for the last few weeks because of its low cost and rebate but I think I'm just going to wait to see what DHM has when their exhaust comes out. It seems for every one person that likes it there are 5 that dont.

Tracking it works fine, plenty of auditory feedback with helmet on. Still "boomy" in cabin between 3000 and 4000 rpm on street, more than I like but will probably just sneak around at low R's until I get the Cyborg on, then decide what to do with it.

Maybe its a 3" diameter pipe problem, seems no matter what I did, same resonation rpm range. Little turbo thinks 3" pipe is a megaphone.

That was likely my first mod, when it became annoying after a month or so I just put a couple rubber disks cut from old truck inner tube in the hose and reconnected it. Probably could not tell today, too many other sources of noise.

I picked up a MBRP for my Fist and was dissapointented in how quiet it is. But I've also been driving a pullied up Lightning with straight pipes dumped before the axle, for the last 2 years. So the combination of blower whine and exhaust roar usually makes people's ears bleed when you stomp on it. Everything is relative for different people like others here have mentioned.
My brother just bought a 2004 Ford F-150 Lightning! thing is a BEAST! I know what you mean when it makes peoples ears bleed! he has a flowmaster catless. thing is unreal!

Question, Is it worth it to get the pro-series MBRP kit for $619? or should I just get the XP kit for $499? it's on sale on Amazon with prime shipping and going to buy soon!

I bought the XP series. Didn't have a single figment issue. The quality of the welds and flanges were quite decent. I didn't see the point of the pro to be honest. They're both stainless.

just ordered the XP series out of desperation to get rid of my straight pipe dumped right under the driver seat. after reading all of this, I'm pretty worried i made the wrong decision. someone please tell me this is decently quieter than a dumped straight pipe

That Perrin sounded nice. I never thought I'd hear you say this. :')

It does sound massive and great though. Much better than what I thought it'd sound like from youtube clips hearing it in person.
