just ordered the XP series out of desperation to get rid of my straight pipe dumped right under the driver seat. after reading all of this, I'm pretty worried i made the wrong decision. someone please tell me this is decently quieter than a dumped straight pipe
Svensunn and I are pals and I have the FSWERK 2.5 catback. Honestly mine is a deeper tone, the MBRP burbles more and is slightly louder, but not as DEEP. at IDLE from behind standing behind it, it sounds like a car "that would go fast" but it isn't loud unless you hammer on it. I'd say a cop might notice if you drive by that it isn't silent or stock. It really isn't that bad.

I hope this helps.

holy crap, no. I drove my car for a day with it dumping at the downpipe because I broke a stud out of the stock downpipe when I was installing my exhaust. It was ear flatteringly loud and everything vibrated. MBRP isn't even in the same realm...

Are you guys just doing this for the sound? Has there been any proven gains from a catback system? OR even turbo back system on stock turbo?
I can't imagine buying a intake and exhaust to make the car really loud and gain near nothing from it.
In my opinion, it's much more fun to be near stock as possible but be much faster than stock. I like shock factor of a seemingly stock vehicle that tears them a new one.

Fiestas aren't fast, lol, it's not going to tear anything a new one except Honda Civics.

Yes, just for sound.

I mounted my MBRP, completed Cobb S3 process, could not take the drone at fast cruise so switched back to OEM exhaust. Logs showed absolutely no difference between exhaust systems in performance on Cobb S3 V201.

I later revised MBRP to Vibrant resonator and muffler, all 3" straight through, added a vibration damper off an old Mercury Maquis my local shop gave me out of trash, it actually worked to reduce drone. But this is in prep for Cyborg mount, otherwise I would have stayed with stock exhaust. When I revised to S3 V220 I picked up a few hp.

No idea whether exhaust makes any difference, doubt it, but I drive the car better with more auditory feedback than stock provides. Course my hearing is poor, too many loud experiences in my past maybe. Wearing helmet its much easier to drive than stock exhaust, so I am keeping it for tracking. No need to view tach is very useful on track.

As long as I ease around town its reasonably stealthy. And it looks very plain and muffled.

Not fast, but quick. Quite capable of outrunning much faster cars on track. And if it rains, outrunning everything but 4WD hotrods costing over $100k.

I traded my FR-S for the FiST and I'm telling you right now, the numbers don't line up. The Fiesta is a noticeably faster car. Plus it's easier and cheaper to make even faster.

The Fiesta feels faster from the inside, but without a tune, from a dig, the FRS is faster. My friend has a FRS and we tried. Then I got in his car and he got in mine, and still the same results.

A lot of the "feeling" of being faster has to do with the power curve. I agree the FRS feels slower. Tuned, the FiST definitely closes the gap.

RWD cars are typically faster from a big, they have the advantage of physics being on their side.

That car is a tick faster 0-60 but from 60-100 i bet the fiesta puts a length on it.

QFT. We've done pulls against eachother from a dig when Svensunn had an FRS.. The FiST is just faster. Though maybe our altitude as something to do with it.

Maaaaybe. Was he on stock tires? I don't know what tires my friend has, but it just dug in from a standstill, that is 100% the reason it won.

Looks like I found this site / thread a week late.
I was watching videos over and over for a week straight to figure out what exhaust I wanted to get MBRP or Cobb mild or aggressive.
I loved how the MBRP sounded and ultimately that's what I went with.
Friday (Feb 12th) I did the full install to stage 3.
Running the ATP Catless DP the 2700 + rpm was out of control insanity my entire car interior I thought was going to rattle to pieces.
I got back under the car and checked all the exhaust location and did find a spot that was just barely touching the heatshield in the S bend.
I re adjusted for plenty of clearance and it seemed to help quiet a bit. but still get that bit of annyoying tone through that 2700k ^ range. I'm looking for options currently..
I've seen some added muffler at the rear , swapped out resonator at the DP end... There are so many different variables and ways to go it's hard to really find a good solid route to take.
I think if I can just tone it down a bit i'd be ok with it. Wondering what muffler I should add in and or what resonator to swap out with what MBRP has up front...

I've got 6800 miles on my car and got out of my MKVI GTI for the Fiesta and love the hell out of it and just as much love the following behind it!

I have the 304 MBRP, best mod was adding resonator per Madfiesta above, I put it on tail of exhaust and left stock resonator where it was.

I also tried swapping Vibrant resonator for stock resonator and adding Vibrant straight through muffler to tail, with one tail pipe.

Then added a "resonation damper" from an old Mercury Marqius, clamped on just in front of muffler.

My conclusion is there is no method of reducing resonation in MBRP at 3K rpm and above that is satisfactory to my ears. I can sneak around on street but tromp and run = loud and obnoxious inside.

I did not try adding a Helmholz resonation tube, that might work.

I assume you're the same guy with video on youtube

I ordered the vibrant ultra quiet resonator this morning.
Ton of positive feed back / response on it hopefully it will tone
it down a bit to a tolerable level.

Thanks for the reply and detailed info!

Is it a rattle or the exhaust sound?

Might be pulling the trigger on one of these exhausts. I love the sound on the YouTube videos. I had 1997 DSM that was heavily modified and I love the turbo and popping sounds. I wish there were some more sound clips of the so called drone
