Would the 2.0 or 2.3 EB motors fit in the fist?

That sounds fun!

I wonder how much weight it would add, I would not expect it to be a great amount and other areas can be lightened up to compensate for it.

Maybe when I am done RVing and have a shop again I will look into it:)

I really have to wonder what it would do to the balance of the car, especially if you shoehorned the 2.3 in there.

Mazda had a shop build them a Mazda 2 with a Mazdaspeed 3 2.3 for SEMA a few years back, and apparently it was absolutely awful to drive. They couldn't keep temps under control, the car was totally unbalanced in the corners, and wheelspin and torque steer were out of control.

Now, what I'd love to see is our 1.6 in a Mazda2, that'd be an absolute riot, since the 2 is almost 500lb lighter than the FiST.

I was seriously looking into the 2 but wanted something I needed to mod a bit less to fit my "needs". Not sure about the 500 lbs less, are you sure about that?

The Mazda2 is 2300-2350, so roughly 400+ lbs lighter than the FiST.

The last and only time I put my car on scales it was 2575 lbs but I have made a lot of changes since then, it should weigh less.

2300 would be manual and 2350 auto trans, more upgrades, etc....at least it would seem so.

My car is more likely to be 2around 50 lbs heavier if all the numbers are correct.

That doesn't change the fact that the FiST is roughly 2780 when not modified. Comparing an OEM Mazda2 to a modified FiST isn't normal.

Normal is a pretty vague term;)

How it looks? Which can have a little or a lot to do with performance unless one considers looks as more performance than actual results.....the M2 looks more like a smiley faced enconbox than the ST does, by far.

I actually care about how my cars look, especially to me, but performance is always more important, maybe I have a different sort of ego than some and though built at least for me, my car gets a ton of attention, far more than expected and wanted.

It shouldn't be vague when we're talking about published technical specs. But you're right, some people are more concerned with looks and wouldn't want a 1.6l EB in a Mazda2. I think it would be a riot.

I would love to drive one actually, at least once and may of bought one instead if they offered a turbo version, I could easily make it faster than an ST due to the weight difference and it would fit our trailer a bit better. The FiST looks much better but the Mazda would make for a faster car and still be big enough to fit our doggies into, Akita and Irish Wolfhound, rear seat delete of course.

A bone stock Mazda2 with fluids is actually around 2250-2275. I've weighed a couple of them myself (my own old one and another) on proper Intercomp race scales.

I might not be able to take out as much weight as the FiST but it would be cool to have a well balanced, 2200 lb car, brakes, wheels, tires, etc done right and around 250WHP:)

Thanks for posting the weight:)

I have Intercomp scales as well.
