Didn't Ford just post the biggest profit margin for domestic automakers?

The Ford Fiesta is very similar to an Amazon Kindle Fire HD Tablet: High performance, 0 profit margin. They are marketed to create long term, easy customers for parts, service and financing.

Keep in mind, Ford dealerships make more money on the financing than the actual low-cost car. Trucks are a different story.

Ford had a solid first half of 2015. The Blue Oval generated $4.27 billion in pre-tax profit, up 7.3% from a year ago (Refrence from http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2015/08/10/ford-outlook-q3-q4-h2-2015-profits-earnings.aspx) , I believe its gone up further than that now. Their not hurting for money.

Just wanted to add that 4-6% of Fiesta buyers is probably a bigger number than you think if your frame of reference is the US market. Europe is practically littered with Fiestas and Focuses. They are what the F-150 and Escape are like here. Hot hatches are also more popular over there than muscle cars, though apparently the new Mustang has been doing better than expected over there.
