Ticking Knocking Noise from the Engine

After warming up (about 20 minutes driving with 100 km/h = 60 miles/h) my new 2014 Fiesta ST has a tapping/knocking noise coming from the engine. Once you rev the engine just a little bit the noise is gone but returns in a second.
I found several cars in the www with the same problem. All cars are still running good but nobody knows where the noise is coming from. The cars are all over the world. I live in Germany. I found some people in Switzerland, Austria, Australia and USA with the same problem. Here is the video of my car:

Do you notice a difference in the noise with or without the clutch pedal depressed?

Prob just the direct injection. I have my cowl covers out, and its INCREDIBLY loud with my windows down. Its really sounds like a VW TDi

No there is no difference in the noise with or without the clutch pedal depressed.
I don?t think it?s the direct injection because if we take down the drive belt the noise is gone !!!

The belt idler pulley is the likely culprit. It isn't necessarily "bad" either. The Dealer should replace it for you under warranty, but even with a new one, it may or may not develop the same noise (only) at the relatively low rotation (low idle) speeds. I have personal experience with a 2005 Mazda 6i (2.3L) that makes the same noise at low idle. It's been making the noise for >130,000 miles and counting on the orignal belt and pulley. If I thought it was a problem I would replace it, but it isn't so...

Make sure if they replace the pulley or replace anything else, that they install a new belt. I read in a service manual or somewhere that anytime that belt comes off, its supposed to be replaced. Its basically stretched on to the pulleys. Not looking forward to doing it on my mom's 90k SFe fiesta...

Registered to say I've got exactly the same ticking. The car drives great, but I am very curious to know what makes that sound.

Got my car back from the dealership. They changed the belt tensioner and the crankshaft pulley. The noise is still the same. Thank you Meagan for that number but they don?t know an answer and Ford don?t really help. My dealership also says that Ford has no information about that problem. I now know so many people with exact the same noise after warming up the car so it must be a known problem. The cars are all over the world. Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Australia, USA, UK !! All cars making that noise are new with 2000-5000 miles. When we all bought the car there was no noise. It starts always after a few thousand miles. And all cars drive really good. There are no problems at all BUT the noise.

As I expressed earlier in this thread, that particular noise isn't a "functional" problem. I also stated that if the dealer swapped out the related parts that you would likely still hear it. Just drive the crap out of the car and enjoy it.

BTW, the noise in the link you posted is direct injection noise.

The second link is a video of my car. The sound seems to come and go and always gets louder when it sits at idle more frequently. Happened a lot more during the summer in bad stop and go traffic.

The dealer i took it to regarding the problem stated that these are just very noisy engines. I have not had any problem with the car and i have the extended warranty so I decided not to be too worried about it unless the noise gets worse or other seemingly related problems came up.

Go ahead and do your yootoob noise search on as many brands of cars as you have time for and you will find the same noise. Just sayin...

They didn't hear it unfortunately
