i took extra care in aiming them so it is not a problem, if you have a foused light beam all you have to do is make sure the light beam is going down instead after 20 feet or so. If the beam is higher after 20 feet then its gonna shine into incomeing eyeballs!

Does that silver aluminium or metal under the light mounts were already there or you place them there to put the lights?

Too late now but if you take it apart again you can sand down the back of the grill to let more air in, I found that a very course bristle like disk worked the best, it was $4-5 at Harbor Freight.

Lights look cool, really, but are going to add the the overheating issues so a bigger radiator will help but more air absolutely will also as the fan cannot pull in enough air to compensate.

I have not ran driving lights since my last rally back in the 70s', Datsun 510 with four 7" Hella high/low headlights, two 8" Hella pencil beam driving lights and two 8" Hella fog lights aimed to the side a bit. I could see better at night than in the day, all the potholes and bumps, really stood out and made it easier to go fast, back then doing 100MPH on unknown gravel roads was pretty intense and fun

yes i had to make 2 brackets to fit the light mounts to, because the grill has 2 tabs on it to prevent the front bumper from sagging, and that sits against the crash bar. so with the homemade brackets the grill tabs slide right under my brackets and rest on the crash bar. the brackets i made are exactly 1" above the crash bar.

that sounds really fun ^ i had a escort gt that i had 4 6" kc lights plus 2 3" fogs plus the headlights and my favorite thing was to fly down the nice wide gravel road at 2am by my moms house at 110mph and thats when it felt like it was floating so i never made it past 110, ironically i wrecked it on that same dirt road going 35mph when the rr suspension became unwelded all of a sudden!

thanks for the advise! i also noticed that the first row of blocked off holes could be drilled out as they are still above the crash bar, i am not saying you guys are wrong as some of you have had this happen to you, but i have yet to experience any overheating issues, but here in michigan if the air temps reach 90 im hiding in the a/c or going to the beach lol! its pretty mild here. i feel the overheating may be caused more by inferior radiator design rather than airflow to the radiator, it is a downflow rather than a more efficient crossflow or double pass so the coolant tends to pass through the radiator too fast so there isn't enough heat transfer to the fins, plus our radiators are very small (not much surface area). i also have a 86 merkur xr4ti and the only opening in the front is about the same size as our intercooler grill and have had no over heating issues with that and the turbo is maxed out at 17psi as of now, i know its not a very good comparison because that was made 28years ago lol. just saying GOOD radiator will do just that radiate heat they just need a good draft to wick away the heat!

Very nice! i like the halo's, they look sweet at night! did you have to do anything with the grill tabs by using the square stock? because that looks a bit easier then making brackets!

I removed it. I don't think there will be any adverse affects. I like the bracket idea better but I had the square stock setting around so I decide to try it instead.

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't the lights upside down? If they are how is the light beam patterned effected? Maybe you could post some pictures or the beam pattern.

I want to see what a fiberglass light pod attached to the hood would look like. Take a look at rally cars from the 70s and 80s to see what I'm talking about.

It could be color matched to the paint and look really smooth.

I would figure that having them out of the flow of air to the radiator, especially on a high output car, would be worth the effort. Plus it gives the car a Rally-inspired look.

I was thinking of putting lights behind the grille, however I was thinking more of an LED strip like the ones on the new baja trucks.
