Beginning to question my decision to go with 235/40/17. They’re just so damn tall and heavy it changes the personality of this car for the worse. Part of it is Compomotive wheels (I’m aware) but they’re still a few pounds heavier EACH than the same tire in 215. I might try a set of 235 RT660 on my lighter Rotas…Or maybe I’ll just go R comp in 215 on the Rota since I don’t have class rules or anything else stopping me. If Phil has the AR1 in 215 back in stock I’m likely gonna do that. Making 235s fit took a lot of time and money so I don’t really want to give up on them yet but if the car isn’t as fun, what’s the point??
It’s definitely time for new suspension with stiffer spring rates too. Still looking but might go with 510s since MCS is so much $$$$. The BC/Swift has been fantastic but the spring rates are too soft for how the car’s setup now. Not sure if there’s anything else out there I should consider. Maybe Yellowspeed?? I’m open to opinions.

When you say "R comp" do you mean a 100 tread wear sticky, or one of the 00-50 tread wear DOT super glue slicks (R1s, R7s, etc.)?
If you're not gonna go bonkers, empty your bank account, and get Motons or the like (which are even more $$$$ than the MCS setup, correct?), the 510s seem like the next best thing.
Rotation is not the issue. Acceleration, deceleration and directional changes are all slower due to the additional unsprung mass. The wider tires are heavier and the diameter is noticeably taller. All that makes the car sluggish compared to what I’m used to and I don’t feel the additional footprint provides more lateral grip advantage to justify their inadequacies on this platform. Thats how I feel now, after several hours on track with them. Granted, I’m currently using RT615K+ which aren’t the stickiest of tires on heavy TH2 rims. Maybe the RT660 in 235 on lighter wheels would justify the size but additional rotational weight will still be there. Maybe it won’t be as bad though. I feel like I need to give them a shot. My car still rotates fine. I adjust air pressure and suspension clicks to get what I want out of the rear end.

It’s my buddy’s who’s a racing driver. I know nothing about it though. Not sure if he wants me to mention him online either. Sorry. The two of them are super fast though. 😉 Most of the cars at our club events are ridiculous. I probably have the only car under $100k except maybe a couple of old spec-Miatas and another buddy’s GTI. It’s kinda funny. My Fiesta holds its own, that’s for sure.
I’ve had small chips from the road (probably from trailering) but I use touch up paint as soon as they’re discovered. I also keep my car extremely clean. It’s very well taken care of since my life depends on it. I’ve only put 2-off once when I ran shitty Federal tires and they just wouldn’t hook coming out of 16 at AMP. Other than that, it’s never been off track. I don’t drive like a dipshit anymore lol. I’ve matured and drive within its limits. I’ve been driving or riding competitively most of my life. These days it’s just for fun. I have no desire to have anymore involuntary surgeries lol. And for the most part, road courses are clean with the exception of spent rubber. I use Mothers R3 to remove the rubber after every event then wax over that section of the paint. I have no idea what’s in R3 but it absolutely must remove wax from paint if it gets rubber off. Nothing else on the planet does the same job.
