Hey all you FIST’s

so I have a couple of questions and maybe you can help.
I want to put a cat-back exhaust on my 2017 st. I also was thinking about putting a chip in to increase the horsepower a little. Instead of spending 2k plus.
My question is if I did this would it void out my warranty? Also,

i would love to hear something’s anyone has done to give their fist more horsepower and done anything to make their car just look and sound bitchin. Thanks.
Seth

Changing the map from anything other than the factory will technically void your warranty. Also never heard of a "chip" for this car. The catback will NOT increase horsepower at all. 99% of us that tune use an Accessport and all of the tuners for this platform (Dizzy, Stratified, JST, Tune+, etc) can provide you with tunes that will really wake this car up. Would suggest looking at some of the tuners websites I mentioned for your mod path. I'm personally tuned with Jason at Dizzy Tuning and he's great to work with and my car rips on his E30 tune. If you want an exhaust that sounds great at wide open throttle and tame when cruising I would suggest the Thermal Catback, it's the go to exhaust for this platform. Sounds great in person without being in your face loud. From personal experience as good as the MBRP sounds online it will make you lose your mind because of drone, don't cheap out and buy it. If my commute wasn't so short and slow I would have changed exhaust by now and thrown my MBRP in the woods. Only mentioned it because people always consider it, learn from my mistakes lol

Good Luck!

Pretty much what Erick said.

My Thermal Cat-Back sounds awesome and scales magnificently to throttle response. Quiet around the neighborhood/office but plenty loud (obnoxious even) at higher RPMs.

One point to clarify, tune won't void your warranty... that said, if any submitted claim *can* be blamed on the added power, there's a good chance dealership will reject on that basis. Read: tuning effectively voids power train warranty (at dealer's discretion).

Basically a risk you need to evaluate against your budget. For me, if anything breaks... it's just an excuse for more upgrades.

The New Vehicle Limited Warranty does not cover any damage caused by:
• alterations or modifications of the vehicle, including the body, chassis,
electronics or their components, after the vehicle leaves the control of
Ford Motor Company
• tampering with the vehicle, tampering with the emissions systems or
with the other parts that affect these systems (for example, but not
limited to exhaust and intake systems)
12
• the installation or use of a non-Ford Motor Company part or software
(other than a certified emissions part or software) or any part or
software (Ford or non-Ford) designed for off-road use only installed
after the vehicle leaves the control of Ford Motor Company, if the
installed part fails or causes a Ford part to fail. Examples include, but
are not limited to lift kits, oversized tires, roll bars, cellular phones,
alarm systems, automatic starting systems and performance-enhancing
powertrain components or software and performance “chips”.

How could you not know that?

I have a third party extended warranty 7 yrs/77k miles. Ford dealership has never hesitated to help me get work done under warranty despite having plenty of mods, presumably because they're not the ones paying for it. If you have a Ford warranty or a turd of a dealership then YMMV.

I stand corrected...
I’m love my Cobb OTS stg1. I’m getting 30mpg from 27mpg and change. The wheel spin is controllable too with my right foot.

I wanted to clarify that from the source below, cat backs can increase power although it is definitely marginal compared to a tune of that’s the point you’re making.
