Got the Carplay USB hub. Anyone using Spotify? I noticed if you use carplay to choose music via "Songs", there is a glitch that will make it start playing a random song instead of the one chosen. Anyone else having this problem?

Did the upgrade last night, no problems w/ install.

- Reformatted my USB flash drive
- Added the unzipped file and folder to the zip
- Started car and inserted the flash drive
- Car recognized the USB and started updating

Took about 15 minutes, turned the car off, waited about a minute (it was night, waited until all the courtesy lights went dark), restart, Android Auto was there.

However, my Samsung S7 sucks balls. I hate this phone. There are known issues with this phone and SYNC. Found a YouTube explaining the process of putting my phone in developer mode and how to adjust the settings when I plug the phone into the car to get it to work.

Got the part today. it was showing HC3Z-19A387-B on the box but on the side of the module, it was showing PN HC3T-14F014-BC. Nevertheless, I installed it and CarPlay seems to be working just fine.

I just ordered my new hub. Do you have any tips to install this without scratching the surrounding trim? The pry bars and a flat head seem like they could scratch it. Looking at the YouTube video of a guy doing it on an F-150 (same part), shows the part has a metal, dome shaped tab. I'll never use the old hub again, so would prying it out with picks through either the 2 USB ports, or by drilling a small hole allow removal better than scuffing up the edges of the plastic inside the arm rest?

I used a razor blade and a very small mini screwdriver. Once you loosen it up with the razor blade you can get the little screwdriver in to wiggle it the rest of the way. I started with a big screwdriver and a pry tool, but as soon as I started to scratch the trim I went to the more precise approach. I got lucky and only escaped with a very minor scratch right on the edge of the trim that wiped out to the point you cant notice it anymore.

I'm anticipating the replacement hub next week. Did you notice the old one had those sort of dome shaped metal spring tabs (kind of like what holds in a 9V power adapter)? If its just that type of retention, I should be able to get away with stabbing and pulling the old hub straight out. I just don't want to put a lot of stress on the rim because the material is cheap hard touch plastic.

Once you get the replacement hub you can inspect it to see where the clips exactly are. I used a standard carpentry type razer blade, the one that comes with a handle on it you use to cut rugs with. I just put it under the lip where I thought the clip was (by looking on the replacement hub for the exact location) and twisted it and it popped the hub out of the clips. Then I was able to just wiggle it a little and it slid right out. It was harder getting the cables detached then it was getting the hub out. There is not a lot of slack on the cabling so it made it awkward to maneuver since there is not a lot of room in that area and I have big hands. It really only took me 15 minutes to install the hub it's really easy. I wouldn't think too much into it.

Thanks a lot too for the info! credit card seems a lot less likely to mar the surrounding plastic. I already updated to Sync 3 2.2, but sadly notice that maps are still the same NA 1 2014, even though I own a 2016 model. What's the point of being able to get updates over WiFi if you can't update maps? Hell, I am even willing to pay for the map updates.

Any Mac users here who have done this Sync 2.2 update? I finally got my USB module yesterday. Today, when I went to unzip the file I originally downloaded "SYNC3 NON NAV V1 to V22.zip", it produced a second file named "SYNC3 NON NAV V1 to V22.zip.cpgz.

That doesn't seem right. What should I see when I unzip that file, or should I go about this a different way as a Mac user?

So, I couldn't get the old hub out without marring the edges a little. In hind sight I would have just used the box cutter on the long flat edge. Just gently get it under the rim and push it straight in as much as it will go. Then move the cutter laterally toward one of the sides and it will lift the whole edge up enough to pull it out with your fingers. I guess it's good that no one can see in there. I just hate any sort of damage or scratches in my car. On a good note, CarPlay is decent, other than having almost no third party support and no google apps.

Now, if I could only find a way to update the stock maps. It sucks that the car comes with 2014 maps and no way to update. Nav is absolutely useless as an option if they never update them. There's lots of areas by my house that aren't even on maps and some addresses I can't search for because it didn't exist in 2014. What a useless option.

They do sell updated maps every couple of years. That's the drawback to every factory nav system that isn't based off google maps or apple maps. Even apple and google lag a little bit from time to time. Driving through Milwaukee yesterday, my car was convinced I was on an off road adventure because part of the highway was now a few hundred feet from where it used to be.

Finally got my usb hub in. Is there a way to use the Ford nav while using carplay? I don't have a lot of data so I don't want to use Apple maps.

edit: nevermind, it says it won't work while carplay is active. I wonder how much data apple maps uses

Hi miguel_ah! I bought a Ford Fiesta ST 2016 on August 2016 in Mexico City, since then, I've been constantly asking the dealer and the salesman for the "Android Auto / Apple CarPlay" update! Every time I speak to someone in Ford Mexico they give me different information regarding this matter (they even toldme that any update would be free of charge, even if a hardware update was requiered, i.e. USB HUB). The truth is that at this moment, no one in Ford Mexico has been able to provide specific and clear information regarding this issue (requirements, costs, dates, etc), so I decided to give it a shot with the files attached on the very first post of the thread.

I had some minor issues (two of my USB thumb sticks where not recognized when connected to the Fiesta ST USB Hub), the one that actually worked was a MiniSD Card connected to a USB-to-SD card adapter formatted with exFAT file system (the other two where formatted with FAT32 File System as requested in the readme file but didn't worked). I also bought a couple of days ago the updated USB HUB (Part Number: HC3Z-19A387-B) through: www.worldoemparts.com (I'm not sure if the ship to Mexico, for I placed my order while I was on Washington on a breif business trip).

Replacing the USB Hub was not as simple as I thought, it actually took me almost 45 minutes to retreive the original module (once I managed to remove the original module from the central console, it took me 30 seconds to unplug any attached cables, plug the new module and place it back in the central console).

The results were great: I didn't brick anything, I didn't broke or damaged any of the car's plastics and now I have Sync 3 v2.2 in spanish, perfectly compatible with Apple CarPlay.
I don't know if you can use this update in the Focus 2016, but I hope my experience and confirmation that it fully works on a Fiesta ST 2016 bought in Mexico is usefull for you.

I'm on a Mac and did it just fine. I use The Unarchiver from the App Store for zips.
