Lol, I hear the same thing from many FiST owners. If it's so much more nimble, why does it lose on the autocross? Everyone seems to dominate in the mountains, no matter which group is telling me the story.

I'm glad you've driven both, I drive both. One letter makes a big difference and I have nearly 40k miles between the two combined. That's a bit more than most people that only got to drive the other model during Octane Academy or for a jaunt down a local road.

Again, I have nothing to prove to either community. Both cars have aspects that they do better than the other and both are clearly dominant in some aspects. I like the mileage in the FiST, the layout, and the size. Outside of those things, I prefer the FoST.

Ok we get it. You like your focus better. Seems that's all you contribute to the forum anymore. Come on and tell us how much superior your focus is. Wow cool want a medal?

This is a fiesta st forum of course the overwhelming majority think the car we chose is better than the competition.

Same can be said for your FoST community. What's the point your trying to make? People have biased opinions? Duh

I had something typed up similar to this but just erased it and liked his post. There's no sense arguing, he knows more than everyone else and doesn't see the issue with shitting all over the FiST on a FiST forum... LOL

Haha he's just a MASSIVE douche that seems to hate life. Forums are the only place he has a voice, because you better believe he'd get punched straight in his mouth if he talked to people like this in person.

Did you not read my initial response, the one that seems to have prompted this argument for mediocrity? It has nothing to do with the FoST being better, it's about the fact that, for the price, the FiST should be better. That was not about FiST-bashing, it was about being realistic and expecting more out of the manufacturer. I would have presumed you to know better.

It's based on a 14k car... did you expect ford to waste money completely re-engineering the interior to make it fit a 20k car fit/finish?

And we're back to arguing for mediocrity. Gold stars for average or simply participating, quite the American way these days.

In short, yes-I expected better. Like I have implied, all of my Fords from 2000 on have had better quality than this car. The seats are great, though. That includes a base-model Ranger ($10k), btw.

I must have a horrible ear for knocking noises, both vids sound the same to me lol. I must say though, you can hear the DI far more in the fiesta then my mazdaspeed. Could it be the smaller displacement by chance?

They're right though, those are two different knocking sounds.
The second noise mine makes occasionally when it's fully warm and idling low. Sometimes it sounds pretty close to a knock but it goes away completely as soon as it's revved above idle.
Same way id discribe mine here at 14k on the odometer but it would bug me if was as loud and consistent as yours

On a regional speed forum here in St. Louis, it was easy to spot winter blues by the crabby posts, but since this forum is global and the weather varies, it's a never-ending source of entertainment.

So....normal noise or not?

Because my FIST made noises similar to both videos brand new. Only when warmed up though. Not sure if it's still there, it might have gone away... People said it was normal so I didn't give it a 2nd thought. At 17600 miles now.....

Mine's very similar to the 2nd video, the 1st not sure as I've never listened to it near the transmission/oil pan....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SMqKDIDOz1o

This is more like what mine sounds like. Haven't listened for it in a while though, I'll check it out tomorrow and see. Mines more rhythmic though, it's not just a constant knock.

I drive it....I DGAF about noises...I've heard alot of "noises" on vehicles through the years and both of those videos I've observed sound like DI injectors. I'd driven a focus SVT that Had a "Noise" to it supposedly. I took it out for a test beat. Never encountered the "Noise" the previous owner had said it had. I think it comes down to paranoia and the fact that people want a buttery smooth engine out of a souped up base vehicle. Not gonna happen. It will be a raw machine, pure and simple. I like that in a car....I don't want it to be perfect but more of everytime I drive it puts a smile on my face. If your looking for a Ferrari type smoothness go out and buy one for some $$$....but until then change the oil as specified and do the maintenance when required. It'll will be fine. If you think maintenance is an issue try owning a GMC Typhoon or a Syclone. Then you will feel the pain of constant monitoring and replacing parts because they eat them alive. But it still puts a smile on my face when I do boost launches. Most of all have FUN and enjoy it. And remember to go no where....follow the crowd.

To get truly scientific, we need to find out what phone op has and do our best to replicate conditions. For example, I have an iPhone 6+ with no case on it. If someone else had the same setup as me and we both recorded videos, and then uploaded them straight to YouTube, we could easily compare apples to apples. IMO it does sound a little noisy in the video, but who's to say it's not just the camera? Those are my thoughts.

Mines bedazzled which accentuates high frequency buzzing noises.

Wow, leave for a few weeks and come back to 6 pages of comments. To everyone who has similar issues, my attempts to use this entire near 5 month ordeal to pinpoint the issue and help the community has failed. Ford is incompetent in every realm of technical service and customer follow up.

Update: Dealer verified the same noise is back and is the same noise that led to engine replacement #1 from a Ford Engineer.

Corporate called me a day after the dealer verified and gave me the almost carbon copy corporate script. They're not willing to even attempt to get me out of this vehicle. They are only willing to continuously tear my car apart while the dealer service record racks up records on a future vehicle report and I already have to explain why the odometer doesn't match the engine. Lady swore up and down if for sure have a call back with an update about what Ford was going to do by Wednesday. No call as of today.

I got printouts of all my service trips and have kept every voicemail from Ford and the dealer. If Ford tells me to pound sand again legal action is coming.

FORD CORPORATE IS CRIMINALLY PATHETIC. I know another guy going through total hell right now with a loaded Ford vehicle, brand new. I heard one of the voicemails he got from Ford, SAME LADY, SAME script. Ford doesn't care dick about their customers or each situation. They just want you to go away quietly while you continue to get fisted. Heard it right from the dealers mouth, they said "when it comes to corporate they are clueless with working with their own dealers. The left hand doesn't know what the right is doing."

And please Ford Service who's on these boards, feel free to pass it on that I'm going to continue to give Ford all the "free advertising" I possibly can.
