Wheel lug removal issue?

I have a 2014 Fiesta ST and I cannot get a 19mm or 3/4" socket to fit on the lug nuts. They look OEM but only seem to go on an 1/8th of an inch. HELP!

Are the lug nuts stripped? These cars tend to do that if 12 point sockets have been used on them.

Did you try a deep socket or check if there is any obstructions in the socket? What about the tire iron that came with the car does it fir properly?

I am going to pay a garage to swap over to spline lugs, problem solved

The OEM lug nuts have an outer soft steel case that is easily deformed. That?s probably why you can?t get a socket back on. I think they do it so the lugs look shiny. It could be a pain in the ass if you can?t change your tire. When I replace my tires I had trouble with three of the lugs. I just hammered the socket on, don?t worry the case is so soft that you will not damage the socket and the socket will cut unto the lug case. The Lugs are the first thing I have seen on the FiST that is poorly designed.

Interesting, did a tire rotation a few weeks ago and had no trouble at all. Used a Matco deep well impact socket and my Snap-On electric impact to take them off, went back on and torqued them to spec with no issues.

You may have a subpar socket? Or someone has had them off before and deformed them with a crappy socket possibly?

The soft outer shell is easily damaged and cause this. For easy removal use a 19.5mm flip socket. They're a must for me since I work for Chrysler lol.

Very interesting, I've been buying tools for almost 10 years off the trucks and have never seen that .5 in between socket before, cool!

haha yeah a lot of tool guys don't carry them in my experiences! They make them in 18.5, 19.5, 21.5, and 22.5. I recommend them to everyone in the industry because of how much of a lifesaver they can be.

I had the problem the first time I took the wheels off. Defenatly use high quality tools and torque the lugs correctly that's but hard to control when you get the vehicle servied. I think that's when mine got damaged.
