I think it’s under 10mpg but I’ve never really checked. The “Avg” on my dash says 10mpg. 😂

It would be wiser to buy a different car but I think it’ll be a whole lot cooler wheeling a Fiesta past super cars. It’s plenty capable through corners and the brakes are phenomenal but I need more power to push through the air on long straights. I’m probably dreaming but maybe 400whp or so will keep them behind me. I do kinda want a GT3 or Mclaren haha. They’re so fast everywhere straight from the dealership. My ginormous penis requires a cheap feminine hatchback unfortunately. 🤣
Having a Fiesta that can hang with super cars is about as awesome as it gets in my opinion!

I posted in the WTB section as well but figured I’d mention it here. I’m looking to buy a Verus rear diffuser if anyone is unloading one. They’re no longer in production unless 25 people want one lol.
I was sure that you’d be the one to cut out the spare tire well and the grid in the rear bumper cover and install a huge functional diffuser!

For way less than GT3 money you could do a Radical SR8 (or even SR10) and walk away from all the street cars.

That was something I’ve wanted to do but time hasn’t permitted. My Coolshirt cooler sits in there right now. Someday I’ll move it to the front passenger floor and cut that rear section out, especially since Verus is no longer making a functional diffuser. I definitely need one badly.

I like Radicals and have seriously considered one. I still like the ability to drive on the street though. We have a RUSH and KTM dealer here now too. The KTMs are insane.

Arial Atom? They're no more or less street-able than a X-bow and at least as insane. Plus you get a Honda engine instead of that tired 2.0 VW! ;)

I don't think that the material that Verus uses would result in a functional diffuser. The full splitter that they cut for me is way too flexible to be anything but cosmetic. I ended up with 1/2" birch plywood. Are you chasing downforce or drag reduction?

Drag reduction for now until I can figure out how to make proper rockers and a flat floor. I want to keep air from piling up between the spare area and the bumper cover. It’s pretty bad. I opened the rear bumper cover grill and it made minimal difference, but I can feel it. I thought about cutting all that out but I’ll probably wait until I can do the metal work at the same time. It looks like the Verus diffuser will keep air from creeping up which is all I’m really trying to accomplish at the moment. Those two little plastic pieces on the bottom side of my bumper cover were literally torn from air pressure. Air also pushes the rear fender liner into my tires. That’s what I’m trying to resolve.. With the fender liner out there is a HUGE pocket behind the rear wheel that grabs even more air.

Were you chasing this before you installed the splitter? You're letting a ton more air into the car by opening up the front grill and your splitter isn't letting it spill out until after the front axel-line. I'll bet that installing an unmolested grill, ducting and sealing around the crash bar to make sure all the air you let in makes it through a heat exchanger, and, maybe, installing hood vents will improve the problem that you're having getting the air of out the car at the rear by letting less in the front and venting some that gets in out the hood.

It’s only been a problem since I’ve achieved higher top end speeds over 120mph. I’ve thought about hood vents as well as removing the lower cowl for air evacuation. I haven’t found data showing the low pressure zone on the hood so I thought about copying the rally cars and mounting the hood vents off to the sides, just above the headlights. They also use little leading edge flaps to create low pressure over the holes as well. I could tape my grill to test but I’m sure air is getting piled up after adding the chassis mount like you suggested.. I just want to be certain of the location of the low pressure zones on my hood before I cut. This is something that needs to be done.

Someone, maybe @Siestarider, probed around and found low pressure points above the headlights, but that was without a splitter; maybe sealing off the bottom of the car induces more pressure under the hood. I've got lots of cooling so I didn't see any difference in temps before and after I cut into the hood but I definitely feel heat coming out of the hood vents at speed by just sticking my hand out of the window.

I am guessing that the Fiesta rally cars, especially the fastest/most powerful Rally 1 WRC class builder M-Sport in England has done THE most wind tunnel/chassis flow testing on this car of anyone out there (who else uses these cars at that high a level of motorsport anywhere else, even in road racing??), and they did have Ford aerodynamicists/engineers helping with their most recent aero bits.

The only thing is that those cars just about top out at about 125-130 MPH on the longest straights they ever drive on the WRC stages.
Even so, I doubt that they want any air trapped under the car, creating lift, even at their generally slower speeds. [wink]

I’ll go back and have a look. I’d think removing the lower cowl would definitely help. I could do the oldschool yarn/tape/camera and see what happens. I have so much track time now I might actually do that. That method would be most beneficial I’m sure.

I saw a bad ass built 500whp e36 for $19k on the TT page today and came sooooo close. 😂 I’m committed to my Fiesta though. It’s still a lot fun figuring stuff like this out.

I dunno - a bit ago you were complaining about the extra couple of pounds of corner weight added by 235s over 215s and you think that you'll be able to make a platform change into a different (and heavier) street car?! ;)

Get the air out of the front of the car and see what that does for your top end; it sounds like you're towing a parachute. And you know that you can't leave this platform until you give a fuel-ed S280 a try. If a slippery 380HP FiST is still not fast enough then we'll forgive you for leaving, but you'd better get something interesting and continue to post pictures to this thread!

That said, I have to point out that nothing will get you more track-cred than weaving through a field of GT3s with a FiST. Doing so with a race-prepped E36 or a track-day car is a yawn in comparison.

Shoot me a link. I’m not familiar with that one. I’m definitely looking to travel some though.
It's the new track nearby me in Missouri. "Dubbed the most technical track in the US." Also apparently the US version of the Nürburgring. The owners of the PF Racing team bought the land and built it. Only an hour away from me which is dope.

Haha! True that! I'm more turned on by a built Nissan Sentra SER than a GT3.

My 235 RT660s just showed up and they're like 1/2" wider than the 235 RT615K+. They're almost 9.5" wide! I'll post a pic side by side later on. I've been sitting on M2 flares for years now and I might actually have to use them now. The grip is definitely worth the effort, that's for sure.

Regarding the S280, maybe.. I might actually go bigger and add a 30 shot for spool. The 'spool' thing is likely all in my head but at least we know the remedy is just throwing a lot of cash at it. :ROFLMAO:

My six year old suggested I wrap my car like the new Aston. Maybe he’s on to something. Kinda makes me want to buy an Aston or an 86 or a Supra or a RCF. I’d rather pass them all in a Fiesta though. I definitely could but I really need sponsors. No one cares about 8 year old Fiestas though so it’s off to work I go. 😂
