I hear you; however, I think that you would get a lot more exhilaration when you take a tight turn at 50 mph than if you bomb down a straight at 130. To get the kick in the pants in a straight line, you'd need a super/hyper car, or a dragster. Here in H-town, there are a ton of wannabe racers on the highways who slam on the brakes on a curved exit ramp. A properly driven FiST is faster than a 911 with a poser at the helm when it comes to turns. Just sayin'. (I do have a 993 - so, full disclosure here... :))
lol I would like to think I'm a decent driver. I can take exit ramps a lot faster than anyone I know (not saying it's the right thing to do).

Different strokes for different folks. Try telling that to people that go to NHRA drag nationals, or to somebody with a "I live my life a 1/4 mile at a time" tattoo. To each his own. Me personally I like a well rounded car. Good power, good handling, a little comfort and some looks. My car won't be the fastest thing on the road, and I never bought it with that intent, but it does surprise a lot of people and I'm in the process of setting it up for some track duty. So my car will be precisely what I want it to be. A great all around performance car at a very reasonable price done the way I like it.

Yeah that's exactly what I want from my car. The car already handles more than well enough for the street which is why I'm not focused on improving it. I had my miata for 2 years and I'm ready for some power now lol.

With all of this comparison to the Miatas;

IS the FiST, in pure stock form (maybe save for some sticky tires and lighter wheels) considered by most in the know, a 'momentum car' in the same way as the NA (non turbo kitted) Miatas and S2000s are for road course use, or not quite that bad because of the 'donkey kick' of torque at the stock system's lower rev boost levels? [dunno]

i personally don't feel like it is a momentum car. It can take turns but it's definitely a different feel than a Miata. I think the FiST is a good crossover between a powerful "muscle car" and a good handling car like a miata. But I've only driven my fiesta for a week so far and I haven't had much time to test it around turns. I've been having too much fun gunning it and listening to the blow off lol.

But yeah a Miata is definitely slower or at least feels slower than a fiesta st lol.

Go to the ST Octane Academy.
Been there. It is a fun experience, but it's too limited in scope to fully appreciate the car. They do have hydraulic brakes installed for all the 'hooning' around on a wet pavement; but the time spent on the actual track is rather short, just a few laps.

Interesting question. Ultimately, any "momentum car" is the one where you have to thread the needle between braking and power, so maintaining speed thru the turns is crucial, because it would take a looooong time to regain it. To that end, the FiST is closer to Miata, because despite the advantage in the HP, it is heavier, driven by the front wheels, and, indeed, has a turbo (with the attendant lag). That said, the turbo is not the kind of rush you'd get from the 930 "Widowmaker", it is more gentle than that, but if you try to power out of a turn, well....

Oh I didn't notice you said you used the Mountune calibration and not just the Cobb OTS tune. Maybe that's what makes it worth the money.
COBB OTS has at least the same number of features as Mountune except for the ability to retain your warranty in the event of tune-related failures.

The gobs of almost instant, low end torque are very forgiving when you DON'T carry all the momentum through the corner that you should have.

If you enjoy gunning it/listening it to it then you will LOVE it in the turns.

ESC off, dab on the brakes into decreasing radius, turn-in a little hot, feel the bite, think it's going to push then the Torque Vectoring pulls the ass into the perfect line, feather on more throttle, straighten out and floor it. Oh yeah...

Alright I just ordered an APV3 via the classifieds. Now I'm wondering, do I need an intake mod to run the stage 1 OTS tune?

No. You will be fine with the off the shelf tune. Once you have parts a custom tune will harmonise the power more efficiently.
