Yes it is pretty easy when you get there. There will be a small parking lot then you just go up to the glass building and there's a receptionist in there

It's totally worth it. Try booking on Airbnb that's what I did and got a room for like $25 a night

I'm registered for October 3rd & 4th. Cannot wait! Good advice on Airbnb for lodging. I've never used Airbnb but the Octane Academy is at the tail-end of my Arizona trip in late September. Probably can book some places when passing through Sedona and up to the Grand Canyon.

Was the place you booked on Airbnb close to the race facility in Toole?

It was downtown salt lake city so I think it was like 30 minutes to the track. Her name was paige and she was super nice

Good call on the AirBnB. I'll have to look into that. Every little bit helps to make it more affordable.

Just to update, it was awesome. I wish I would have been able to go closer to May though, it was HOT and we were outside in fire suits all day. I will update with pictures later.

The Hoonigan HQ reception was worth going to IMO. It is a bit of a drive, but they served Chicken Parmesan so I certainly couldn't complain about that; your food may vary. It's kind of luck of the draw what cars are at the location at the time you go though. I saw some pretty cool cars there yesterday. I was only allowed the photograph the one up front which was Ken's Escort MK2 RS. He had a Fiesta, Raptor on tracks, and a Focus RS under construction back in the back.

The Mustang class was going on that day as well, so the schedule changed up from what I saw as pretty normal with Urban X and the track. We did track first and then Urban X with the skid car going on as people switched out. Honestly I think the best part of the day was the track. I never got the hang of the "happy handle" e brake thing so all my Urban X runs sucked... It was still fun though. When you ride with the instructor in the hot laps, they go insane. Shows you just how much more our cars can do. I've been sore all day after yesterday. You still get go-karts at the end, but it's not really a part of the schedule. They just give you a free pass for go-karts and the track is privately run and all the employees there were clueless high school girls and one guy...so it was kind of a fiasco.

This was exactly my thoughts, I absolutely loved the track and wished we could have got some times off of it as I was closing on a focus on my last lap. I do wish the instructor lap was run before our hot laps though as I was using the brake vectoring as my reference to the limit instead of utilizing it. I also had trouble with the hoon stick as I felt it the recaro bolster was keeping it from being used as easily as it should. Either that or I just forgot my big boy muscles at home. Still a ton of fun and I'm really glad I went. Now just to find a track near home

I got stuck behind some cars a couple times. I guess people were driving a bit slower on my day. They said you'd probably never catch up to anyone with the spacing you do. I kinda wish the Urban X was more like a regular AutoX. The worst parts for me were the handbrake turns. It's not something I ever do.

I'll be going August 27/28. Is the Comfort Inn the facility recommends in Tooele the popular place to stay, or do most folks stay in Salt Lake City?

Any sort of night life recommendations?

I finally looked through my videos I took of the ST Octane Academy. My camera started running out of battery I guess right at the Urban X course stuff. I never use my dashcam on battery but it looks like it records partial clips and shuts itself off when it's low on battery... Even though it kept recording partials until I realized it wasn't recording correctly anymore, weird. Anyway, it did at least capture all the track stuff, including the instructor hot laps. So once I get back home I'll upload all that and post it here.

The Comfort inn is nice and if you use the promo code on the st octane website when booking online you get a decent amount off and it applies for multiple nights. It's really close to the track too so you won't be late as long as you wake up on time. You won't have to deal with rush hour traffic in SLC. Some people stayed in SLC because they were doing other stuff there before or after, but there were a decent amount that stayed at the Comfort Inn on my day.

I don't do night life so I don't have a clue. My night after the track was driving out to the salt flats to catch the sunset. That was well worth it to me.
