Container shipping really is dirt cheap, I shipped four 1500 lb pallets from the other side of the US to Singapore 4 or 5 years ago for $800! At the time the best deal I could get going from dock to dock meaning forklift required cost nearly the same per pallet and that was shipping 10+ pallets from the same place to Utah, I could never quite figure that one out and could not get an international shipper to even quote dock to dock within the US.

----------------

Bronx, when you drop the weight going to 15x8, 11.4 lbs wheels you will be amazed, even if you ran 14 lb 17x8 you would still find a considerable improvement going down to the lower weight and more of the overall rotational mass moved inboard.

---------------

As mentioned many times the weight savings effects all aspects of performance, acceleration, braking, handling, ride, wear on the chassis and can improve fuel mileage depending on how you drive of course:) As for the brakes, going down approx 25% over stock weight and moved further towards the center of the rotation will significantly improve the brakes effectiveness and lower maintenance issues.

There simply is no other mod one can do to improve all aspects of the car so significantly.

In my opinion the beryllium looks much better than the tungsten in person. So I agree with 949 Racing. I think we should go that route but I'm only one person. Good to see that 15x8 +36 was the final choice. If it really is the final choice, maybe get a mod to change the title, and make the vote only for color. And we can finally get the final choice. Plus I think having 15x8 in the title would attract more people.

Are we limited to just +36 and +42? If this isn't just the case of redrilling a current wheel blank than we may have the option for a different offset...

I could give two shits about flush fitment if I can get clearance for more tire! 225/50 would be killer on the street but +36 makes me worried about the fender clearance... But than again there isn't much room at full lock either.

Damn you ford and you limited tire room and silly bolt pattern!

Ah Rick. You surely like to drive home a point :) I know that the 15" wheels will always be lighter and have less reciprocating mass than larger ones, but my car is not a track car. It will be driven on a track, but I like the look of 17" wheels way more than I like the look of 15" wheels. I also have a 2007 honda fit with 15" wheels down from the factory 16". Even on the fit they look small to me. So in a perfect world I would be getting the 6uL in a 17x8 et36 in tungsten. We don't live in a perfect world so for now 15" it is. My main gripe is turn in suffers noticeably with the higher sidewall. It is very noticeable to me.

I do tend to get repetitive at times but often it is because some just do not know the differences, etc....

Though one might not track the car the differences are still very apparent when it comes to saving weight in this area and moving it inboard but I have also had 18's on a 2300 lb race car because it was the best way to go for that application.

In reality I believe the perfect size wheel for this car is 16x8 or possibly 8.5 in the exact right offset. The looks will be more acceptable, easier to fit a BBK, weight can be a very decent amount, slight stretch will give still give good feedback and turn in, etc....still no timeline announced but there are some damn nice 16x8's in the making, flow formed, around 14bs and $159.

I run the 15x9 to negate as much as possible the loss of feedback and response on the 225 tires I run and am more than happy with the results, it helps a lot that I have aluminum steering rack bushings and urethane suspension bushings, mono ball strut and shock tops, etc... plus the spoke design going out to the very edges of the rim lip makes them look more like 16's than 15's.

15x8 6ul look more like 15's but have a nice lip which helps them for those that like that look, I like them on my car with the 205/50/15 NeoGen tires I got for inclement weather.

Is there no option for a 16 or 17 inch size? I can't fit 15's over the Wilwood BBK. I'd be very interested in a 17x8 since I run them daily as well as track, but I'd also consider a 16x8

There are some 15" fitment BBKs in the works and I have personally made a setup to fit these particular wheels but it is a very close fit, not the best caliper to start out with, those working on it are the pros, I am DIY only, be patient, it is coming.

If you want 17's wait til the end of the year, 949 Racing is collaborating with FSWerks.

If you wanted these wheels and did the 4x100 conversion you would probably be spending the same amount of money as the group buy, if not slightly more.

Unless you have 17s in mind.

I run 15x9 6ULs on my Miata. Tungsten finish. Going by the colors that are on the FiST I agree that Beryllium is the best first color. Tungsten is like a dark chrome. It looks good but I can't imagine how it's going to look on my ST if I were to use them.

Emilio knows what he is doing. If there is some sort of tooling change I trust him. Here is a video of a 15x11" 6UL being flow formed:

The 4x100 drill jig is $110 off of eBay with the right bushings and drills. Let's call the total at $30/corner with shipping and stock studs (ARPs are $60/25). But, once you do the 4x100 conversion, you've got many more wheel choices and cheaper follow-on sets. Even though the 6UL 17" is coming at the end of the year I'm still gonna do the 4x100 conversion, especially to play with the 6UL 17x9.

I was quoting it if you're replacing the hubs on all 4 corners. Of course you can re-drill the current hub to the pattern but I'd be skeptical of durability.

Either way, this is still a hell of a deal for a wheel that is insanely light and will fit on our car with no modifications necessary.

I think that you can use Mazda 2 hubs, but I think all the guys on this forum running 4x100 are using re-drilled hubs. Race car guys re-drill hubs all the time.
