I had a stone chip on my windshield that suddenly started to grow. “Star” shaped, getting close to an inch in diameter. I called Safelight and they wanted $155 to repair it. I had heard recently that while insurance companies still fully cover these costs that they now consider these repairs as “claims” when increasing premiums. So, I decided to try one of the repair kits, RainX being the one I chose ($15). I was amazed at how well it worked ! Took about 20 minutes (then left in the sun for about half an hour to be sure the resin had fully dried). Virtually undetectable. Wish I had taken before and after pics, even the longest “spikes” in the star disappeared, very happy with the result.

Yesterday I did Bilstein B6 struts, new oem coils, new rear hubs and bearings, new set of Continental Viking Contacts, and Ravenol transmission fluid. Took all day because of battling rust but I only had to cut one bolt. I have a whole set of Vibra-Technic motor mounts waiting to install, but I've had enough of working on the car for a bit. I'll do them within the next month.

Bilstein's feel great. Hopefully they settle in over time because they're slightly bouncy, but they feel way better than my worn out struts obviously. The transmission fluid is the most impactful mod I've ever done to this car. Night and day difference. Shifting is much more smooth and doesn't buck anymore when shifting fast from 2nd to 3rd. I also just replaced my 2015 ST’s factory shocks and struts with Bilstein B6s. (I kept the original springs.) What an improvement! The B6s took the overall feel of the car to a whole new level.

What up!! 😃

So, couple of things since my last post.

Yesterday got my BG Shift Trans Fluid done and my goodness what a joy it is to drive this car! The throw is smooth as butter and works really well with short shifter mods, I have both bushings front and back. Shifts are crisp and sharp with no hesitation and if you ever had a difficult first gear where it doesn't want to go in gear, totally GONE!! Do it if you haven't it's worth the 70 bucks on whoosh.

Today I pulled the headliner and put in some insulation/sound deadening and my goodness!! Every single rattle completely GONE!!! Honestly can't believe the difference. CP-E Motor mounts trans and passenger (tons of NVH) Muffler delete, VIBRA Technics RRM, bracing all over front and back, Koni Yellows and more. Tuned by dizzy, Stage 2/E30 and I can barely hear the pops anymore!!! Insanely good and the stuff I got was super lightweight from also Amazon for 30 bucks during a sale, it doesn't add much at all in terms of weight. Wish I Would've done this sooner. Take care amd drive safe Fiesta gang! ✌🏼

I did a strip of sound mass above the headliner in my impreza/9-2x and the cabin noise reduction was life changing. Especially in the rain. Good find. You don’t even need to cover the whole thing. Just 75% or so of the flat roof parts. so worthwhile I appreciate the reminder and have it on my list.

Appreciate the comment and feedback but just curious not trying to turn this into something it shouldn't be but your name kind of bugged me out a bit. Just thought you should know.

Bmws may not have turn signals but Miata’s don’t have mirrors.

I beat on the Fiesta today & it liked it. View attachment 64863

It’s been my screen name since before those a-holes existed. Was the name of my dog in the early 2000’s. No offense intended or taken. Not the first comment I’ve gotten on it.

Hey,

Not bad at all of you aren't intending on removing the headliner from the car completely since you would need to disconnect the water lines and wiring harness.

I decided to just drop the liner which gives you plenty of space to reach in and attach the sheets no problem. It's honestly insane how quiet and refined the car is now, 100% worth it!

Thanks for clearing it up!

You are spot on when you said "life changing". It's completely transformed the car and daily driving is so much better!

First wrench on the new to me 16 FiST.

  1. Oil/Filter change. Dealer said they did it, but I trust dealers about as far as I can throw a Fiesta.
  2. Collected an oil sample that I'll drop in the mailbox tomorrow morning to Blackstone.
  3. Removed what was left of the PO's aftermarket stereo wiring job
  4. Removed plastidip from various pieces that the PO put it on, including the blue ovals for some reason.
  5. Replaced the cabin filter.
  6. Installed Dash Cam
  7. Ordered some Eibach springs to replace the H&R springs
  8. Ordered another shift knob to replace the weighted knob the PO put in
  9. Put in a Rock Auto order for a 3 change supply of Oil, and Filters. Windshield Wipers, Spark Plugs and Motorcraft transfluid
