There are patch-plugs that are both in one. I don't know if they are all rubber, but that would be the assumption. They are great for the center area, but I'm not sure about the corner. Rope plugs have saved me on many occasions. I used to carry them I had so many flats. Weirdly, it's been a looooong time since then. I can't remember my last true flat. I came close with a leak from a screw, not flat..

Nails in the tires are one reason why I now routinely buy the road hazard. I used to think it was a waste of money, but over the years it has paid off and then some.
I'm pretty anti-insurance but I too have been more inclined to get road hazard over the years due to nail flats. Of course, when you get road hazard nothing happens and when you don't you get the sidewall flats.

I had my Thermal Cat-Back and step colder plugs installed, oil changed, tires rotated... oh, and I mapped my Dizzy E30 tune! First time running that corn juice!

Initial thoughts... between the bov and exhaust I'm very pleased with the sound. The fact that both sounds scale to the pedal (mild to wild) is icing on the cake. Power exceeds expectations. This tune is probably wasted on me (or at least my current tires). I couldn't put power down with my (presumably) conservative Mountune OTS tune... and this is so much torque-ier.

So yeah, new tires will be my next project/paycheck πŸ˜‚

I have repaired those and even further out on my own cars and trucks over the years and NEVER had a problem.
I have always used the rope style plugs and trusted them completely.
However, when working as a professional mechanic I would never fix that on a customer's tire.
i have too, but with more common road tires. i dont think ill take my chances with these tires tho

So, since ive only put less than maybe 250 miles on the tires, should i choose to replace it, am i safe to replace that one tire? or should i do both sides?

RT660’s if it makes sense for your application. I hook second on my sub 2700lb E30 car, love them
Looking to tire rack, RT660's aren't available in my rim size (16x7). 😒

Narrowed it down to 4 (attached). Price to value has me looking closest at potenza and indy500... but the extra $200 or so for a set those Toyos wouldn't be really missed. Any recommendations?

re-71r tires are your best choice on that list.

That is about the only bright side to this whole debacle for you, as that is sooo little wear/miles, you can replace just the damaged tire. [wink] [:)] [thumb]

What did you have Jason set the COBB traction control to? I had mine on 4, default on and was breaking the tires free pretty easy. Of course was still on stock potenzas. Using Tune+ now and not breaking tires loose, appears no cobb traction control defaulted off.

I let Jason pick (or otherwise default). Note: I'm currently running Riken Raptors and those broke free on the stock tune/no upgrades. With Mountune tune (B5 package + bov) I was able to spin in all 6 gears... and haven't gotten a chance to really get into Dizzy tune yet (give me 45 min and I'll be logging some miles tho).

if he wants to go autocross Ya. lol He may get upset how they last on a daily. I would say for him the RS4’s are a solid bet. Re-71R is a great tire for hardcore track.
Exactly right. My RE71s are shot after only ~8k and I didn't track it at all last year. Switching to RS-4s which are a lot more durable and handle the heat very well.
