Left - out, right - in. Why, you ask? Because the pricing for a broken boot kit is comparable to the whole half shaft. And, it comes fully assembled. This is what's called a "no brainier". Especially considering that I had replaced this exact CV joint's outer boot not even 3 months ago - and it split again!!
Before I start screaming at the Ford dealer who sold me this, is there something that I could have done wrong? It looks like the Oeticker clamp hadn't been tightened properly and the yellow grease sprayed all over. I didn't manhandle the shaft, and all the "action" was at the CV joint end.
So, technically, this post belongs to the "what somebody did to my Fiesta"....
The second question is whether it's OK to drive - the amount of grease is less than what I estimate was packed into the boot, but then again, this is what stuck, the overall volume lost may have been higher...
