Rain here for two days, I will get the stuff mentioned done and then work on the ducting for the radiator, IC, oil cooler, etc....and get the hood back on and the bumper cover, no leaks so I can button it all out now. I will make sure I can drive it a bit in case it drys up sometime during the day.

I have done so much to the car I need to just drive when nice out and my wife can be ready to come and get me with the truck and trailer if need be, not likely as I go over everything many times but I have missed things on rare occasion, better safe than sorry and I do not want the car all wet and dirty while finishing it all up. I keep my cars cleaner under the hood and under the car that the body most of the time as do not like working on dirty stuff:)

I hope your move goes well and you have a good place to work on your car buddy.

Rick

Car is running great, I swear when idling the exhaust got a bit deeper and louder after porting the turbine outlet. It was to quiet with the 5" 100 cell cat, 5xx18" resonator and Borla race muffler, idling and driving, I will see how it sounds on the road tomorrow if not raining a bunch.

I had to clean the DP wrap and redo that, finish the turbo reinstall, finish the CAI build. I got that all done and then started on the trim that goes behind the bumper, had to cut out a bunch for the big IC fitment and I had to trim all the flashing from opening up the whole grill, it was a very very productive 12 hours:)

If clear out tomorrow I will get the bumper, hood and lights installed and hit the road to get some miles on the car, finally.

If not then I will work on all the ducting to maximize airflow to the IC, radiator, oil cooler, which will take considerable time, then I will work on the mount for the ECU, air box or.

I need to put at least 1k more miles on it before I get out to the track before teh season ends which might be early this year, I would really like to go a few times if possible.

Ok, I created the image, just for this thread, but feel free to use it wherever it's applicable:

Also I hope everyone involved knows I'm 100% kidding around. I love that you guys are pioneering the platform, and I know IRL stuff gets in the way when you're not in it to make profits and it's not your day job. <3 everything that is going on here.

Photos:)

Look at the upper left, gives you a bit of an idea as to how much material needs to be removed.

Not the best picture but I thought it was kind of fun, the finished job is much cleaner looking than this.

Photos just do not justice to the big difference there is, when you know the expanding gas is that spins the turbine, might be a better way to say that, this is a very important mod.

Notice the rounded off WG valve mount, it is in the direct path on the turbine outlet, it is more rounded on the turbine side, I did not want to remove to much material.

So is getting more exhaust in by porting the manifold well by also opening this up.

A better view from the turbine side.

A sealed Cold Air Intake, I might paint the can but this is the real deal intake, I have seen some very high end race cars with similar designs.

No worries, this is the absolute best forum I have ever been on, not a great deal of us and so we are pretty tight knit but also passionate and some get their feathers ruffled easily, I have as well, have to remind myself, this is for fun:)

I like the Keg but the color not so much, I will heat wrap the bottom and side nearest the engine and transaxle and at least the bottoms of the intake tubing.

If I paint it I would leave the main logo showing as well:)

Or, see if there is another more appropriate mini Keg I can find, it was only 30 minutes work to open it up and mount the inlet tube and air filter.

I had to think about how to keep the filter in and looking good, simple brackets, etc but nothing came to mind so I pushed it in more, which sealed even better then used 3 small black screws that are against the inlet side of the filter, not as clean looking as I would like. I wanted to use some qtr turn
fasteners but just nothing seemed like it would look good and I am normally great at visualizing then building things, including having remodeled and built houses from my own ideas converted to plans.

Every time I see that exhaust turbine it makes me laugh and sad at the same time.

For contrast this, is the turbine size of a stock Evo 8 turbo, probably 3x bigger, heck the nut on top isn't too far off the FiST Turbine size. ;)

My 04 GSXR1000 had a bigger turbo than our cars lol. It was a T3T4 with billet comp wheel. That little 1.0L made 290whp on E85 but then again it only weighed 455lbs dry. Made for a great power to weight ratio[smoking]

We do have a lot less weight, less aero drag, less drive train loss, if picked right much less weight in the wheels, tires, brake rotors....less displacement, etc...but yes, we do have a tiny little turbine wheel, something a bit bigger but not to big would be great.

I really want to see some real world numbers on an EFR with a well made manifold, cast SS would be my long term lower maintenance choice, compared to a maximized stock turbo, manifold, etc.....

An EFR on a well ported stock manifold, adapter needed, might work well also and I might try that if not enough from the stock route I am on now but I really want this stock one to do all it can first. That is why I have at least 20 hours into porting which is very tedious work, have pulled the turbo 3 times, had it modified, another 20 hours into the intake, IC, outlet pipe, 20 hours or more into the exhaust and DP to make them the best flowing ones ever for this car.....all very intense work and probably far more hours than listed, maybe double the total as I get so into it the time flies by but the details all add up.

No manf can take the time to do things the way I do, if I sell my setup somebody is going to get a ton of stuff the only way they could besides DIY.

I was willing to work at this to see what could be done, the challenge of it as a life long DIY guy that has hardly ever paid to have work done in 46 years of modding cars and rarely working with anybody I could trust to do things right.

In the end all the extra effort will not make a huge difference, it helps, it might give me all I need, that would be a fine thing to have:)

Lucky for us we have SS helping make this happen for us that just want to explore the limits of the stock parts modded at a level most can afford and more importantly those that need to stay with stock parts for whatever reasons they have, budget, time, where they live, what they prefer, etc........

The modified stock turbo, and supporting mods of course, could also end up being the best all around daily driver way to go.

We are close, we will know soon:)

Yeah!

I am heading to the shop right now to get going on the ducting and bumper install, skies are clearing up, I might get to drive it today:):)

I do not enjoy working on a dirty car, the important stuff like all the mechanical parts, so I do not want to drive it in the rain and I have the whole car to test and sort out so being all wet and dirty would not be much fun.

Cobb OTS stg3 tune fixing to be uploaded. 100% OTS, nothing changed in the wg, fuel, or timing.

I do have a tune ready to go in it, but I want to see how it did just now on the OTS.
Curious, why did you switch from the custom tune you were running back to OTS? Do you want to show OTS works with the frankenturbo?
