Took my car into the dealer today, they used a different tool to transfer the update and said it went abnormally slow (over 3 hours to update.) When I picked up the car it was still at version 1.0(!). I'm taking it back in Tuesday morning for them to take another crack at it.
That's f'd up

I may be getting closer to the source of my problem.

I am on a Mac and using Safari. This means that Safari auto-unzips the file without asking me how I want it unzipped. I think this may be changing some file names, etc.

Normally I would use The Unarchiver (as posted earlier in the thread) to unzip the file properly.

Any idea on how I might get my Mac to download the zip without auto-unzipping?

EDIT: Facepalm. The auto-unzip checkbox was just in a different location than it used to be.

I have downloaded the original zip from the Ford site, and using Unarchiver I have properly unzipped - the files now have different names which look correct. I've copied to the USB stick. I'll report back as to whether the update works for me when I can try it again.

Thanks!

The bootleg instructions if I remember were to use Windows, and the Ford instructions on the website ask for a 32gb however I don't know why it would need to be that large.

I installed the official update however I had already done the bootleg and had issues with that one.

UPDATE:

I have updated to version 2.2 successfully.

I am on a Mac. Here is what I did:

I disabled auto-unzip in Safari preferences, and I re-downloaded the .zip package from the Ford site so that I ended up with an unzipped .zip file.

Once i had the .zip downloaded, I used The Unarchiver (free app from the app store) to unzip the package file properly. It will leave you with a ".lst" file, a ".MSA" file and a "SyncMyRide" folder.

Now for the USB Drive: I used a 32GB SanDisk thumb drive that supports both USB 2 and 3. The flash drive was formatted to exFat per Ford's instructions.

Copy each of those things INDIVIDUALLY, meaning one at a time, to your flash drive; both files one at a time, and then the folder.

I went out to my car, started it up and plugged the drive in. Instantly at the top of the screen it said "Software Updating". It took about 22 minutes to finish and bring up a window stating that the installation was complete and that I could remove the USB drive and turn off the car.

I waited about 8 minutes and restarted the car, but the software still said version 1.0.

Then I waited about an hour and fifteen minutes and restarted the car and the software now said version 2.2 and showed a notification "Software Updated" in the top bar.

Car Play now works!!!

Hopefully this will help all you other Mac-based FiST owners get your software updated [wiggle]

Mind me asking if you did any kind of special vudu magic for the update to go through? I've followed those same instructions and waited for around 35 minutes and it continued to say Updating System... I've tried four different usb sticks. Fat32, exFAT, format on windows/mac. I'm not sure what else to try haha.

So any difference between the unofficial and official one?
I can't download it from the website yet because it thinks I already have it installed. Need someone to pull nav and non-nav files.

They also recommend 32GB USB drive.

Rejoice! I have the update and am copying it on a 16gb kingston flash drive formatted as exFat. for those of you whom may have old flash drives with multiple partitions that disk management cant remove the diskpart command line utility is very straight forward a little googling will help a bunch.

NOTE I am not responsible if you wipe your c: drive if you are not comfortable doing this there are several videos that detail this process.

win+r
diskpart
list disk (the one with a similar size to your thumb drive disk (number will vary mine was disk 4)
select disk (4 for me use the same number that you just saw from the previous command)
list partitions
select partition x
delete partition
list partitions
repeat this process until all partitions are gone
from here on you can format the disk from the disk management utility.

I am downloading it now. Will have to get bigger flash drive tomorrow.

If you are installing over leaked version, let me know how it goes.

Is yours nav or non-nav? How long did the update take?
