Uh...You have a 2016 right? Does the No Nav version only have 1 port? Oh, do you have an SD card slot there?
yes....2016 (RS)....one USB under the armrest......non-nav system. I think they all just have one USB by the shifter and one under the arm rest.......does the sync3 with Nav still needs to get nav updates via SD card or is updated another way?.....i know my 2014 FIST had the SD slot for Nav updates.

That's an interesting question. I'm not sure. But I do know that if you get this update working, you'll never have to worry about map updates ever again.

Im thinking it should work......the part is the same dimensions as the single usb part......looking forward to using apple maps on the sync screen and not my phone connected to an a/c vent......and no SD card updates is a bonus.....never did the nav updates on the FIST....too expensive.

Same issue.

I was able to install on the second try. Here's what I did differently:

1) I used a different flash drive (4GB this time instead of 8GB).
2) I was sure to extract the install directory and read.me files to my hard disk first, THEN copied them over to the USB. Previously I extracted them straight to the flash drive.

Hope these tips help. Not sure which solved it for me, to be honest.
I ended up with both updates giving the message of update successful but it only showing v.1.0 .

After a cycle off and on it works but still shows 1.0

I used an old 4gb USB formated exfat , one update at a Time with format in between, unzipped to desktop and copied to drive. Windows 10.
16 fiST non nav.

updated without issue! took about 20 minutes on the nav model.

make sure the flash is exfat or fat32 and make sure the only two things on it are the syncmyride folder and the autoinstall file

it starts automagically and then you get a notification that it's finished. turn the car off and restart and it'll be good. like everyone else mentioned, the nav takes about 5 minutes longer to load up (or a second reboot will do the trick)

Then when you're done you can use your BT OBD2 and Forscan to change the Ford splash screen to the ST one and you're good to go!

I miss the speed limit info from the factory Nav, even though it was often out-of-date. My account still hasn't seen that roll out on Google Maps Navigation yet.

so I've got it to update but the screen still looks the same? Guessing the USB is the reason?

What are you expecting to change? The OS looks identical after the upgrade, it just has the options for Android Auto (gotta enable it on your phone and plug in by USB) and Apple Car Play (gotta install the new USB Hub and plug in phone by USB).

Being cautious on files taken from 'non-OEM website' downloader, I downloaded the update I found for the non-navigation Sync3 from the google drive link in this thread, and from a ford dealership link that was posted (f-150 forum, I believe). Can anyone who successfully upgraded confirm the actual file names found on your USB drive, or unzipped files? It appears I have 2 extra .tar files in the file from the Ford dealership link download... I want to make sure I have the right files for upload to make sure I don't brick my unit.

From Google drive link in this thread, files on the flash drive all ready to go.. -
GB5T-14G386-SB.tar,
HB5T-14G386-TBB.tar,
HN1T-14G391-BC.tar,
HN1T-14G423-BA.tar

Then I have 'update 2' still on my computer hard drive, ready to load after update 1 is finished (as per READ.ME)

From the Ford dealership link - 6 files (not loaded onto a flash drive, yet, but has been extracted - Zip file was named HN1T-14G381-LG (repeated file names with asterics* below)
GB5T-14G386-AA.tar
**GB5T-14G386-SB.tar
**HB5T-14G386-TBB.tar
HN1T-14G381-LG.tar
**HN1T-14G391-BC.tar
**HN1T-14G423-BA.tar

So i downloaded the Nav version (I have a 2016 FiST nav model) and installed it on the car, it took it without a problem, and in the system info it says that it is version 2.2, great!

But, i can't seem to get Android Auto to work... I just downloaded it on my phone, and i don't see an option to cast the screen.
I have it plugged in via USB
I have AA enabled in the car's settings
My phone and car are paired by bluetooth already.

What am I missing here?

Start AA on your phone while it's plugged in to the car via usb. You have to go thru some setup on the phone in AA.

I have started it that way, and I get no prompts from either the car or my phone that says anything about further set up. It's like it doesn't even recognize the car (even though it's plugged in, and can connect to the sync Bluetooth no problem)

Try switching the USB port that the phone is plugged in to. Mine only worked when plugged into one of the 2 ports. And make sure you have the right version of Android, older versions will not work.

I have an ecoboost mustang coupe (2016) rental while visiting fam for the holidays, and it's taking every ounce of willpower I have to avoid installing this update on it heh.

They won't notice. Besides the possibility that something could wrong, I'd be concerned that it would break the automatic update cycle... which come to think of it, is probably turned off by default anyway.
