Ultra-rare Ford Racing center caps?

I ordered a set of the Ford Racing 15-spoke wheels. When I got them, one of the grey Ford Racing logo center caps was damaged. I got the vendor to coordinate having a replacement cap sent directly from Ford Racing, but he said it was like pulling teeth to get them to send one to me. Now that I have the replacement, he's emailing me saying that Ford Racing needs to see a photo of the damaged cap smashed to bits, showing that it can't be used.

Are these things that rare?

Weird.

Anyway, if anyone's looking for these wheels, check out Watson Racing online. They had the lowest price on them (figured I'd give 'em a plug since they helped me out...)

That's odd. They shouldnt be that hard to get. They are in the Ford Performance catalog as a regular part.

It may be more of a "we want to see why we had to send out a part" type of deal. Making sure that it really did need replaced and not just someone saying it was damaged to get an extra, etc

Here's the weird part. I had to send a picture of the damaged cap first, before they would send the replacement. Now that I have it, they want to see proof that the damaged cap has been fully destroyed.

It's not very uncommon, actually. That helps the vendor/manufacturer to know that whatever they're replacing isn't being reworked and keeps them from wasting the postage to have it sent back just so they can destroy it and throw it away. Nothing more than keeping honest people honest.

Another reason to buy Team Dynamics. Condensation collected behind the clear plastic over the graphics on the center cap. Discount Tire that sold me the wheels called TD directly not sure if they sent photos but I had four new caps in about a week. +1 for customer service.
