Tune+: Tuning Review and Information Thread

Currently on a e30 tune session with adam. i had about 4 stage 3 revisions in one day, so the speedy response time is definitely true. As far as power wise, its feels much smoother than my prior tuner, and we've addressed some things that make it a lot safer also. On a base map e30, there IS a small gain the butt dyno will notice.. so im pretty excited sitting here at work with my laptop patiently awaiting my revision from the log i already sent. Then im sure my car will feel like a little monster. ...before the turbo upgrade anyway :D

My TUNE+ experience has been quick, literally. 2-1/2 weeks from paid to complete (for now) with many revisions on 93 oct & E30 maps. Adam will send new maps out almost as fast as you can send in datalogs & will answer your questions very soon after you ask, within reason. The tune performances have been great. Safe timing, smooth power delivery, and clean datalogs. The power is more like a naturally aspirated engine and less like a crazy four cylinder turbo. From my personal experience, I'd definitely recommend TUNE+ to anyone looking to safely maximize their stock turbo or straighten out an existing tune. Thanks Adam!

I wish I could find time/location to do a few pulls for my next revision, the car feels fine as is, but I owe him a new one!

Lol, you should like me! Adam is very quick to reply and get a new/ updated tune back to you after a log. It took longer for me to drive to my "special" data logging spot than to get a revision, lol.

Yeah, he's really quick about it, it's just where I live and how much traffic there is, I haven't exactly found many opportunities to gun it to 90mph, gonna try to figure something out this weekend though :)

Yeah, I have to drive roughly 30 mins out of town (Jacksonville) to get away from the traffic.

I do my pulls on the exit ramp of the highway. Not an on-ramp and exit ramp that the lane ends into the exit. Usually have enough room to finish the pull in the lane, and then brake for the length of the exit ramp.

Our exit ramps are a little different here in Minnesota.

Yeah, Minnesota was great for logs....I lived in Chanhassen and the roads in the summer were great and not congested. Winter was a different story, lol.

Exactly what I do.

Wait what? Maybe there's exit ramps in MD that are different than what I'm around most days, but I'm pretty sure I'd slam into someone at a stop light if I tried to do a pull on an exit ramp haha

My last pull was a ramp from a highway onto a HOV lane down 395 in VA. I should just go down there and do that again.

Speaking of pulls, I am trying something new while working with Adam when I do my datalogs, and I am actually allowing the car to hit the rev limiter while data logging. Is this a mistake or is this the way that I should be doing the pulls?

Adam told me to take it to the rev limit. If I remember correctly.

His instructions do say from 2500 rpms in 3rd until redline, just checking that this actually means to hit the rev limiter. I haven't bounced off the rev limiter in a car since my last k20 civic si. I will say this though, since upgrading my waste gate actuator and adding Adam's tune, the FiST no longer runs out of steam up top

I try not to hit the limiter....when I did my 2,3,4 gear pull, I touched it a little on the 3rd to 4th shift. I was rewarded with some timing correction, lol. The car didn't like it. I normally shift at 6200-6500 rpm with this car as it feels the best when I shift there. I datalog to 6500 rpm for the logs. I was Flat foot shifting for the 2,3,4 gear pulls so even shifting around 6500, it still rises to 6900-7000 rpm.

I try not to go above 6500 either.

Thanks for the feedback, and my car feels excellent btw!

I'm only on the 2cd tune file since I added the upgraded WGA, and my logs are already much more smooth than before the upgraded WGA plus Tune + e-tune, and I am really liking your work. I'll datalog again next weekend, and Happy New Year Adam
