I love this car. And it makes me regret not buying the M2 Motors flares when I had a chance.

To be honest looking back I wish I stayed oem body. Trying to find wheels/tires that properly fit the car with flares is a pain in the ass and not many choices.

It’s great. Our local track is really short and twisty so the fiesta being a grip monster performs really well and the turbo definitely helps it not lose pace in the straights. For auto-X I find that sometimes I am waiting on spool but not too often.

The wmi mostly just helps keep things cool and for safety as I’m not tuned for it, runs noticeably better with it though.

What shifter is that? I had one of those in my E36 M3 and have been thinking about putting something like it in the FiST.

You gutted behind the front seats even more than I did (I left the plastic trim on the sides in the back, and being a daily driver, I left in the jack/spare). [wink]

The local Autocross club I run with uses our local track for both Autocross and lapping events (not timed). The first lapping of the year is this Sunday so in preparation for that I decided to have my car corner balanced and aligned. I went to River City Motors and they did an amazing job. I’m really excited to see how the car now handles on the track.

Alignment specs:

(The before on these was wildly off due to the front sway bar install and I had to raise the car when I recently went up to a 245/40/17 RE71. The larger diameter tires were rubbing like crazy in the weirdest places)

They also modified my front strut tower area to allow use of my the camber plates. The damper adjustment knob was getting caught on the sheet metal if you wanted to move the camber plates off the 0 setting. They did a really good job and were able to max the plate all the way negative then use the camber bolt on the bottom of the strut for fine tuning.

I’ll probably pop off the rear door cards soon. I’m also looking at the lightweight MeLe battery setup and some lightweight seats to replace the heavy Recaros when the budget permits.

The car weighed in at 2702 pounds which surprised me. Being in Canada though we only get the ST3 model fully loaded with sunroof and everything that would add some weight compared to the online spec of 2720 pounds for the base model. If anyone has the weight for an unmodified ST3 I would be curious to know what it is.

I was wondering if this was still in the great white north or not - good to see you didn't part with it.

Thanks, I’m really happy I ended up keeping it around. It’s let me venture into a whole new world of racing and I’m excited for everything to come. The knowledge of a new sport. I spent a ton of time today at River City picking their brains and trying to learn setup advise.

Yeah, I would have thought that you would have come in lower than 2700# as well, but then, as you've stated, you were not allowed to buy a base car like we could (and I did) here south of the border.
Carbon hood would help a little, as would carbon/composite body panels, but those latter are insane coin. [:(]

Lexan windows, running a gutted composite dash, and an aftermarket, racing steering wheel are some other possible mass reducers. [wink]

What size tires have you run with the M2 flares? It looks like we have decent options in 235/40/17, but I can’t find any fitment/rub info with these flares. Does the car need to be stock height for them to clear? I figure I’ll use a 17x8” wheel, but I haven’t calculated offset yet. I’m hoping your experience can save me a little trouble.

You'll never find a set of M2 Flares anyways so don't worry about their fitament.
