I've got my catted downpipe on the way and I'm just wondering if you guys think it should be wrapped, or not?
Thanks for the info!

I asked Cobb's product support team this very same question when I was about to install my Cobb downpipe.

They advised to NOT wrap it, due to moisture being trapped. They also said for a daily driver wrapping would have no difference. In race applications it may offer a slight improvement at the cost of product longevity.

So basically if you do wrap it, it will most likely cause your pipe to rot away faster for minimal difference

I'd wrap it. It's not gonna hurt keeping engine bay temps down and if it's stainless it's not gonna rust.

Although stainless steel is much more resistant to corrosion than ordinary carbon or alloy steels, in some circumstances it can corrode. It is 'stain-less' not 'stain-impossible'. In normal atmospheric or water based environments, stainless steel will not corrode as demonstrated by domestic sink units, cutlery, saucepans and work-surfaces. In more aggressive conditions, the basic types of stainless steel may corrode and a more highly alloyed stainless steel can be used.

[rofl] "stain-impossible" Nice.

Yeah, you won't see much "improvement" if you wrap your downpipe. If you're really concerned with heat, get it ceramic coated.
