sooo. i bought some firestone firehawk indy 500's and they were great, super grippy can barely even get them to squeak unless you really try to break traction. unfortunately that was only about 5 months ago and i need new tires already. they were a decent price, i think i paid like $550 for a full set from amazon and with a buy 2 get 2 from Evans i can get another set for like $350 not bad. but i want tires that will last longer, $700-$1200ish a year on tires is a little to much for me. i don't really need as much grip as the 500's offer tho i do like it and im not wanting to spend much on tires this go around and i want summer tires as i live in san diego and i wouldn't mind a bit softer of a ride. im thinking of getting some 'whatever' used summers tires from my local place and running those for the time being or getting some cheapo westlake sa07's ($57per) or kumho ecsta ps31's ($95per) anyone have any experience with either of these tires of have any other recommendations?

Sorry, didn't realize they aren't available in stock size; I run 16s, which you should also consider for a mildly softer ride.

How many miles did you get out of your Firehawks? I would expect 15k unless you're spinning the tires all the time. Hell, I got almost 30k miles out of my OEM Bridgestone summer tires almost all highway miles on cruise control.

You could save money and get more grip than what you paid for those Firestones by buying Federals. Kumho’s can be ok depending on the model. $550 for the Indy 500’s seems expensive for what is a mid level tire in the grip department.
Personally unlike some of the other people around I would never run Indy 500’s but that‘s just me. I like my tires to have better turn in.

How is the tire noise compared to the Firehawk tires? Not sure if you have miles on them yet, but if you do... any issue with clearance with the 215 section width vs 205? It will be time for something new next year as DCTC chews up tires pretty quick, I would like to try something stickier without going to the RT660 if possible.

Nope...no issues. I'm lowered with Spec-R springs also* tires are wider. Way grippier than the firehawks that came off. The Falkien 615+ will also be going on my Typhoon next summer as the Toyos are showing their age.
