Got in the FiST today and it wouldn't start. Stero came on, door chime worked and the key fob locked and unlocked the doors but nothing when I pressed the ignition button. So I got the second key fob and it fired right up.
When I got to Lowes I changed the battery in the first key fob. Then got a notification on my stereo. Key fob battery low. At my next stop the notification was gone. Had I not been at home and able to get the second key fob I'd have been stuck. So now I have an extra battery and a small screwdriver in my car so I won't ever be stranded needing a new battery. Warning light after fresh battery installed, it doesn't get anymore ford than that. Hope this saves someone a headache.

Nope....you hold the Key FOB up to the receiver/ Push to start button and it ill start* The Key FOB for our vehicles is always "ON" and searching for out vehicles even if the buttons aren't being pushed. Just replace the batteries every 2 years. Keep them out of your pocket also as when you sit down they can get pressed by keys or keychain novelties and drain the batteries even faster.

I know your not trying to me what happened to me today didn’t happen. If you’re talking about holding the key up to the blank spot on the steering column where the a keyed ignition would be. I did that. Holding the key in my hand next to the column while pushing the button. Didn’t have to hold the the second key fob up to the column set it on the seat and BaBaBaBAHM fired right up. I can appreciate what your saying about don’t keep your key in a place it can accidentally get pressed. I carry mine in a plastic ammo can with my other daily essentials. I started it up the other day and no stereo. After several attempts, all I did was push on some fuses, started it and the stereo worked. So after my experience today I’m going to play it safe and stick to my original plan of keeping spare batteries in my car. I’m pretty sure mine has some strange electrical issues. The door chime, chimes when it dam well feels like it. It could even be me fucking things up. I have a Spinal Cord Stimulator with a battery implanted in my back on the lower right side. So who knows. As long as it doesn’t catch fire and kill me I can live with it.

That's not where the receiver is....its the actual push start button you must hold it next to. I had my column shroud off the other day. There isn't anything there on the column its just where a Ign lock Cyl would go if there was one utilized.

Where does it say that in the manual or where are you getting this information?. The only thing I found was a video for if your key fob is dead and didn’t work. My key fob was working it locked and unlocked the doors. I’ve looked in the manual and googled it no where can I find what your trying to convey. Not that it matters I’m gunna do what works for me. Thanks for playing though.
