Stock, the car does have kind of a lot of lag built into the tune. With a pro-tune ? It doesn't get anymore instant than this,
Minus a high compression NA V8 or nitrous car.
My Evo is surprisingly much more throttle responsive than my ST and that is with throttle tuning done on both cars. Displacement helps for more than just power. :)

Even my FoST has noticeably less lag-and that's stock. The two cars are night-and-day in terms of the initial power delivery. Displacement definitely helps.

-the rattling
-cheap plastic interior trim that scratches way too easily
-when i turn the deforest on, the air shoots out of the vents for a couple seconds
-cant turn the defrost and the vents on at the same time
-steering wheel is too thin
-cheap leather shift boot

no complaints on the performance end which is the main thing, and in the price range i guess i am to expect the cost cutting on the interior

Yea.... Modded out stock turbo srt4's are... Well.... Incredibly TOO responsive. With the modded stock turbo, I could turn 235/45/16 bfG drag radials into bubble gum at 50mph.

There truely is no replacement for displacement... Which is why I was so excited about the mazdaspeed3.... Until it disappointed me.

My favorite engine of all time is the LS, say what you want about any other engine then compare size, weight, low CG, cost to make more power.....right car, right gearing, great on fuel.

And I like a turbo 4 banger but at least 1.8L, 2.0L better, etc....

1. Rev hang. The absolute worst thing I dislike about the car. Why do I have to wait to shift? GRRR>>>>>!
2. Unclamshell the seat and back from the recaro. My ass is too big to wedge in there, and My back does not bend that way.
3. have the seat headrests lean back!
4. Better speaker and sub option
5. no HID.
6. Low, High heated seat option, I hate the cycleing it does. But at least they warm up super fast.
7. STAR drives to remove the air filter? I bought a star drive set just for this car. What is wrong with just using an 8mm bolt?
8. Dual layer trunk is idiotic. I removed the plastic holders and lowered the trunk floor to where it is supposed to be.

Other than that, I am extremely happy with my purchase. The car is a blast to drive. and follow the shift light you can get nearly the rated MPG! Takes regular or premium to boot!

I must have gotten a wednesday car. The entire thing is put together tight. I went through the car and tried to tighten any exposed bolt/screw/fastener I could find, they were all very snug! No rattles, the car is quiet! Brakes are strong, and the nanny features are fully defeatable!

There's really nothing much for me to complain about here...The FiST actually exceeded most of my expectations in many area's (and still does) for a car that only cost me $24K OTD...Its a fun and fairly practical lil' go-cart :) Jeez... I've easily paid over twice this much in the past for some cars which were far less fun or not nearly as durable nor reliable... so far! :)

A couple positive comments on some mentioned dislikes.....

Rev hang: I love that the rev hangs for a second. When I shift into the next higher gear, the revs are matched and I stay in the power band.

Recaro related issues: I still don't get how a custom fitted item can be magically fitted to all body types. People need to have their seats correctly sized for them. I chose to not pay a stupid amount to have a seat not fitted to me. You wouldn't go to a store and buy shoes that are 2 sizes too small, right? :)

How easily the paint scratches. I rarely drive the car and when I am not driving it, it is parked under a carport away from people....and yet it's like every day I go outside there is a new scratch in the clear coat. We don't have cats in our area so I think it's just the wind doing it....seriously, every single day.

- the visibility on the rear window is poor, distance wise, since the roofline slopes downwards towards to the back. I have to stoop down a bit to see cars farther than the one right behind me.
- wish the shifter was closer and/or higher.
- no backup camera, no biggie but still would be nice.
- as has been mentioned, torx screws for the airbox? even with regular screws it's still a PITA to open and change the filter. One screw is almost blocked by the intake hose. What's wrong with clamps?
- no "oh shit" handles
- changing the cabin filter will have to be a weekend project. I can't believe changing the oil is simpler.

With ALL the things wrong with this car, I am surprised that anyone bought it at all.

Obvious sarcasm is obvious.

On a side note though...
I was thinking we should start a thread about the things we like about the FiST.
