OEM: 205/40r17
40% of 205mm = 82mm
x2 for the 2 sidewalls of the total tire diameter = 164 mm
17 inches for wheel diameter = 432 mm
Total diameter OEM = 596 mm
"New, fatter tire on a smaller wheel; 205/50/16
50% of 205mm = 102.5mm
x2 for the 2 sidewalls of the total tire diameter = 205 mm
16 inches for wheel diameter = 406 mm
Total diameter OEM = 611 mm "

Sorry but you cannot go by those numbers exactly, tire manf specs are all over the place, you need to dig in and find the actual diameter as well as section and tread width when picking tire sizes.

It would be nice if they all used accurate info but they seem to just make it up as they go, only one that is right on is the diameter of the wheel.

Does anyone know if you mount a 205/50/16 on a car that is stock height, will it rub?
I am running Comp2 A/S 205/50-16s on a set of Sport Edition P5 wheels, 16x7.5", 42mm offset, stock springs. Never had them touch, no matter how hard I ride them and how bad the streets are here in Pittsburgh.

Purchased some new OZs and had Discount Tire install them. These aren't cheap so it was a pretty difficult decision, but they were my favorite in terms of appearance and weight. I haven't seen anything lighter than 15.7 lbs for a 17 in wheel. The pictures don't do a lot of justice, I will try and get some better ones in the near future.

Very wise to spend the extra money on very low weight wheels, improves all aspect of performance, helps fuel mileage, better ride, less wear and tare on the chassis, win, win, win, we have a winner:) There is no better mod for the money than what you spent going low weight on the wheels.

I was waiting for you to chime in Rick. Lol. Lord knows you love yourself some light weight wheels.

Oh yeah!

I do prefer 16" for this car but not much available yet, 15's work for me with the 4x100 conversion but anyway to save that much weight is a huge gain in all ways though the ride will be improved it would be even better on less than 17's:)

Really diggin this style. How well does the 20mm offset run I was afraid 20 would be too aggressive. I need a guide line for 8inch wide wheels that would be ok with no problems.
The tires are smaller than standard (40 series vs. 45), stretched and I can see some fairly aggressive camber. I assume these 3 things were to manage rubbing issues from the ET20 and the car does not even look lowered. (I could be completely wrong)

Wheels ARE beautiful. I wonder what they weigh.

Are they the RT 615s, or one of Falken's more street friendly tires??
