Stuck Downpipe Bolt

Long story short, I tried to install my 2j downpipe yesterday, and while trying to remove the OEM downpipe, I noticed the top most downpipe-to-turbo bolt is completely crossthreaded in. Joszer came over to try to remove it, and we backed it out about 2-3 mm then completely rounded off the head of the bolt.

I spent hours last night with bolt grabber sockets trying to remove it, to no avail.

Any ideas?

That sucks. I thought one of my bolts was cross threaded too when doing the downpipe. Went and got a 10" breaker bar from auto zone + WD40 and it finally budged and backed out.

He may not be able to fit all those tools in there... If its crossed-threaded in it may need to be retapped as well. I'm just waking up so maybe this isn't a good idea, but I think you're gonna have to cut the head off to get the Downpipe off and pull the turbo to get the rest of the bolt out and retap.

Probably going to end up cutting it off and drilling it out when I get time this Friday.

This.

May sound like a pain in the ass but less frustrating and likely easiest in the end.

Yep I had the same issue with my DP.. Top bolt passenger side (USA drivers side) should have soaked them overnight in hindsight. Bolt ended up cross threaded... Had to put it all back together (it was the last remaining bolt) and take it to a mechanic to be retapped.
Took up way more time than it should have.

I slept well that night though.

I got the bolt closest to the motor impossible to get out because of that hard line that prevents me from getting my hands in there to turn it and i cant fit a breaker bar in there. And then i also snapped one of the bolts ffom the downpipe to catback. Does anybody know what bolt that is? And any tips? Car’s been on jacks for 2 days because of work
