Cool,
Since the turbo companies seem to be taking a nap when it comes to our cars, though ATP has said a June release, I am just looking at ideas of what can be done and maybe for a decent price. Perhaps very low use take off from a car with a slightly bigger turbo, as long as it will fit on the manifold, swap parts if needed, etc.....maybe I can come up with something to fit my needs like a wider power band and a bit more top end HP for a reasonable cost and just get it done.

But, I will spring for a fairly expensive turbo from them or BW if they do this before too long.

Thanks:)
Rick

When I sell more parts from the BMW project car, home audio, car audio, band room, Studevette project, forged LS1, etc...I might buy an EFR 6258 BorgWarner and a flange then have a master welder buddy mate them together, the rest I can handle easily enough........then just need a tune:)

Thanks, I found those, integrated manifolds, not much help for us but the EFR or GT turbos are better units for that kind of money so we will be ahead of the game in turbo quality if we use one of these.

The BW 6258 runs a T25 flange and both the Garrett GT2554R and GT2860RS that ATP are developing to fit the fiesta ST run T25 flanges.
I would put my money on ATP developing an adaptor to mate the T25 flange to the stock 3 bolt ST exhaust manifold, otherwise they would need to develop new turbine housings for the Garretts.

Don't forget that the atp also uses the stock style downpipe flange, so not only do they deal with the T-25 flange on the turbine, they deal with the BW downpipe outlet.

I'm thinking they have a custom turbine housing. Housing wise its same old same old, but with custom flanges casted.

That's my guess...

There may be adapters already made, just have to dig in and see, or one close enough that is easy to make it work. Another option is to modify the stock manifold to fit the T25.

I made my own DP so modifying it to fit whatever turbo I end up with is not a big deal, as long as I do it soon. I could be more patient if not for preparing to go full time RVing and need the car finished, sorted out, tuned, etc, before I go.

In fact I need to find a tuner for the turbo setup when I get it, I have the AP, just not going to try to tune it myself.

Thanks:)

I have looked at countless turbo threads, even on the borg warner website. How is our turbo lubricated and cooled?

I'm curious, do we still need to do the old turbo timer cool down before shutdown?

Oil and water both.

Not sure on the turbo timer but if shutting down after a hard run it would be best to at least let the car idle a bit or drive around and let it cool off, I would imagine.

There is another turbo option in the works, hang on, I am researching it right now:)

I am still going to end up with an EFR I am sure but I want to see what this does while waiting.
