So I'm pretty sure I may have just wrecked my clutch...

Well I was hoping I would have been able to avoid breaking things with only 8000 miles on the car but then you put my dumb self behind the wheel and anything can happen.

Tonight I met a friend for dinner and took a little romp before hand. Decided it would be a good idea to do a little burnout. Mind you this is like the 3rd i've ever done in the car. Well first gear goes fast as most of you probably know, threw her in second and after a second spinning seemed to stop and two seconds later seemed like clutch was slipping. It was a weird experience. Anyways pulled up to a stop sign and had some bad smells which I initially attributed to roasting tires. After a minute though and another stop sign was thinking much worse. Car was driving fine though so I parked and went in and had dinner. Left about 90 minutes later and now first and second seem to stutter from a stop. Just a slight dut, dut, dut real fast. Best I can tell 3 times. Not noticeable in other gears, not noticeable downshifting to second for a turn.

Any suggestions?

maybe slipped the clutch a little and glazed the surface. Drive it for a while and it may go away. Sounds like it's just hitting the glazed areas and slipping really quick then grabbing when there is enough friction. Just drive it and see if it improves.

Do you drop the clutch or slip it for a burnout/launch by slip I mean let it out slower if you slip it out slower its usually easyer on drivetrain but can glaze the clutch easy and create slip later. sliding your foot off the clutch and just droping it can be hard on everything with too much grip but dosent create glaze so u want to find happy medium not too fast of a drop and not too slow

Launch control 3000rpm and dropped clutch. Won't do that again so no need for any more practicing lol. It's such a little issue but I know it's there and makes me so angry. Hopefully it smooths out otherwise my exhaust money just went into a new clutch. :(

Just drive it "normally" and it will clear up after a while. The shift into second is what did it. It was under lots of load and you released it and then applied even more load and it just couldn't hold it and slipped enough to transfer a bit of the material material onto the flywheel or more likely the pressure plate. I've done it many times with stock clutches in other cars. If you didn't actually break the DM flywheel then your fine. If you do it several times it will eventually absorb enough heat to damage the friction disc and it will slip all the time. New clutch then.

This is somewhat comforting. I guess it's a wait and see for now.

What everyone else said. I did the same thing doing a burnout in front of some dick in a GTI who had been riding my ass. I panicked that I had ruined the clutch but after a week or so of normal driving it was fine. I'm sure it wasn't good for the life of the clutch disk, but not the end of the world.

Whenever I do d aburnout I just keep it in first. Do little tap fluffing on the throttle to keep it going and don't go into red line territory. It works so far. Not that I do it all the time or anything.

Had something similar happen at the track in one of my C6 Z06s. The clutch was chattering quite a bit after it slipped after a hard launch/1-2 shift...after a little while of normal driving, it evened out and was fine.
