Anybody heading out to the rally's to spectate this summer? If you have never been and there is one somewhere in your area I highly recommend it. It's a ton of fun and it's about as cheap as motorsport spectating gets.

For me it's a camping weekend with some great driving and a big car nerd party mixed in.

I am headed to Ojibewe Forests Rally in northern MN in August and possibly Pikes Peak.

Check out the American Rally Association website for a schedule of the big time national events. There are usually plenty more regional/local events as well.

Hope to see some FiST folk in the woods this summer!

Never know who you might run into. 36932.jpeg

I am heading to both the New England Forest Rally in Maine/N.H. late July, and Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally in north central Pennsyltuckeyvania mid September, this year.

I volunteer with helping run these events, which is a great way to see them, and get to drive down the full stage roads (which spectators cannot do on the days of the events).

I will 'prep' the car (skid plate on, heavier oil change, bigger than RallyArmor mud flaps on, 'rally' wheel/tire setup on) for NEFR in mid July. [wink]
I am also an ARA member.

Yeah, I had a conversation with Ken Block at the awards party/barbecue after NEFR last year, about WHY his Escort Cossie burned to the ground on the stage I was working at the time.

Yeah, we even have a 'Super Regional' ARA event that I am planning on attending in late October in lower upstate N.Y., which will be the closest actual performance rally to anywhere I've ever lived! [thumb]

There used to be a Sand Hills Pro Rally held in South Carolina many years ago.

Just a week out now. Anybody making it up to the Rally next weekend?

There are a few Fiesta's entered. I think one R5, and a "fiesta prorotype" which appears to be a rally fiesta bodied Evo 10! Plus another couple in the lower classes I think.

Should be a good time.

There were a few R5s entered at NEFR, as well as many R2s, and McKenna with his S2000 class based Fiesta with a Focus WRC 2 liter engine in it (he took second overall there in that car, just behind the FULLY funded/backed by Subaru USA STI of Manxman Higgins [thumb]).

I am hoping that even MORE R5s are at STPR, even though there are not many listed on their online entry list so far.
(Dave Wallingford was not at NEFR, hope he makes it to STPR. [wink])

BTW; have a GREAT time there!! [:)]
