That's not easily available here in HK, I'm already having to order a lot of parts via US based warehouses/vendors as the Fiesta was only sold for the 2014-2015 MY in HK. Ford HK is absolutely useless and quotes exorbitant prices for basic parts.

I can source the Motorcraft MTF, just checking if anyone's used it especially since it's listed in the owners' manual. Seems like everyone is running DCTF (which I understand is what the car came with from the factory).

Yeah their like $30+ qt ....very proud of it and it's just a straight 75w.

Although I highly doubt it was the Motul's fault in OP's failure, it is a fact Motul does NOT meet the Ford spec for our car.

While I’ve been convinced by this thread to switch to Ravenol MTF-2 on my next transmission fluid change, Motul Multi-DCTF is listed as compliant with Ford’s WSS-M2C200-D2 spec. Or maybe you meant the Motul 300?

After changing My trans fluid at least 4 time's now and added the full 2 Qts of Ravenol MTF-2 or Bg syncro shift 2 never had to let it "Drip" or none the less drip at all. Just add the Full 2 qts* you will be all gravy!

So months later I'm finally on a computer so I can post these videos. Most will not find my random post here and there so ill put some details so this thread is the go to

I'm a firm believer that Motul trans fluid cost me my trans and 2k. I have a pretty high milage ST, it being a 17 and i just crossed 78k. I feel most you guys do not have the issues I did because most you guys don't have the miles i do on Motul fluid.

0-11k OEM fluid
11k-50k Motul 300
50k-64k Motul DCTF

I might be off on the miles, I don't feel like looking for papers of when i did the change to DCTF, it was 40 or 50k. Either way you see I had Motul for 50k miles or so. I want to say for the last 10k or so I noticed a whine in all gears/no gears. It was at idle or driving. If the trans was spinning it was making noise. From pervious experience with bad clutches I was sure it was trans noise. But I kept driving the car cause I'm dumb, i should have took it in before 60k because at 64k it was over. The whine went from slight to super loud. It would growl and growl and on freeways it was crazy loud. One day on my way home I took these videos and that was the last time that trans ever made it a mile. While i was at speed i think the bearings finally gave way cause I heard something go blow up and made some horrible nasty sounds, and then I lost 6th gear, then 5th. Limped home and towed it from there on. Ignore the check engine light, it would come on once a week or so from a bad purge valve. Since i changed the PV it has never came back on. Anyway here are some videos and a couple pictures

New OEM flywheel, clutch kit, slave, and finally new seals to get rid of the leaking seals (which as we know they still leak lol just a lot less) and of course new brake fluid to flush the system. And oil and filter because its there anyway. As you see by fluid choices I'm not new to this game. I swore I was using top tear trans fluid

Sourced a new (used) trans locally for decent price. Here is what Motul cost me

11k trans - $900
Labor $500
Parts $430
Towing was free with AAA


And because I'm a sucker for pain, 10k later i swapped to Motul DCTF again....the shifts were so great again but 2k later i noticed a whine in second. I'm praying the damage is not already done. But i swapped to BG Syncro Shift II and have not looked back. Shifts are just as good, trans is quite again and I got it for free lol As we speak right now at 78, all is well. I believe Motul cost the trans, there are few cases of our cars going through whining trans. But the threads are far and rare. I blame the fluid, not Ford. Take it how you want. Motul will not be in this trans again.

^^^The factory fill in these cars (Fiesta ST which had the Getrag IB6 manual transaxle exclusively) actually was the Ford Motorcraft DCT fluid.
Most speculate it was only done to help save Ford coin on the assembly line by not having to have a different fluid for the IB6 vs the garbage DCT, which most of the non-ST Fiestas were sold with.

I do not know where Ford (or Getrag) filled our transaxles (i.e.; on the line, or were they shipped from Getrag already filled??), but that is as good an explanation as any, along with it being one less fluid that the dealers/parts departments would have to stock on their shelves, or get in drums for service.

Most on here do not trust the very thin viscosity appearing DCT fluids (even the better/best of them, like the Motul stuff), and therefore use one of the premium lower viscosity (75W-80), 'MTL' gearbox fluids (most of which do either meet, or exceed our Ford spec) instead.

Does Motul meet fomoco spec? It usually will indicate this on most bottles.

If an oil manufacturer does not include the model of your engine or transmission, would you buy their oil and assume it will work in your car? Perhaps I should put canola oil in my engine since it was used in WW2 ships. Is your transmission listed on this oil?

Did a routine fluid change and put ~1.8L of Motul Multi DCTF in my car this weekend. Not sweating it here and I might go with Ravenol MTF-2 next time (about 30k miles from now).

Checking in, over 15k miles later, and still no issues here.

Given what's been going on with our timing belts on those that are regularly driven aggressively, this may be questionable, but transmission fluid change interval is listed at 150k.


On page 241 it lists:

• Manual transmission fluid (B6) 1.7 qt (1.6 L)*

We have found no issue with rounding up to 2.0L fill.
(some even just fill until it starts running out of the fill hole)

On page 242 it lists:

• WSS-M2C200-D2
• Motorcraft Dual Clutch Transmission Fluid
• XT-11-QDC

The first serial is the specification. The second serial is the Ford part number for the Motorcraft fluid.

Re spec, reportedly,

• WSS = 75W-80

What I have in mine is API GL-4+ spec, is full synthetic and a tad more viscous at higher temps than the stock DCT fluid.

Downside is the stuff literally has to be imported.
My change interval will be around 100k versus the recommended 150k.
Since it went in with at least 20k (likely much more) on the stock stuff, it'll be some time before I'll want to swap it out again.

We are talking about the Fiesta ST, specifically. It has a unique transmission; the IB6 6-speed manual. It is the only Fiesta model that came with that transmission, and the required fluid for it is not the same as for the dual clutch auto or the 5 speed manual.
