Actually more of a long term hibernation. Torpor.

I just bought a new house, and streamlining my finances is a priority right now. So parking insurance for Casper here. The cover will come off again when the loan is paid off in full a couple years from now. Tough call, but unwrapping a brand new paid off stage 3 cobb FiST with 4000 km on the clock in 2017 is a goal I can accept for now.

Don't forget to unload those wheels (Flat Spots) with a couple of jack stands. You'll also need to run the engine, at least once a month, otherwise, corrosion will wreak havoc with your FiST, also rubber seals become brittle, and fail.

Yeah, the flat spots I can understand, and I'll get around unloading the suspension before winter. I'm not wholly sold on the catastrophic failure of all the things because sitting still aspect, have resurrected older from longer sleeps with nary a seep or failure. I'll keep it in mind though.

Mouse traps or a cat help keep the upholstered items safe.

I would not characterize all leaks as catastrophic failures. Some can be an annoyance that can be prevented by making sure you have a film of what ever you are trying to keep off your garage floor, on the seal. Typically, one reduces the service life of a seal by allowing some of the seal to dry out or swell. oil and heat exchanger fluids are good examples of these. Other examples are seals used in fuels, where some of the fuel contains ethanol. Ethanol can gel and cause even Viton seals to leak. A good fuel additive (or zero % ethanol gas) can prevent this type of problem. Draining your fuel tank, and running the engine until all fuel is used also helps. Seals in the turbocharger are also a likely candidate to fail, if the oil that drains out of the turbo, while sitting, is not pumped back into the turbo, before operation. This could be catastrophic. Putting a foot on the brake and accelerator, so the engine does not start, but pumps oil through the system can prevent this problem.
