Perfect Wheels/Tires Combo?

Hi to all, first time here. Got my fist for a month now and is time to put some new shoes. I have been searching for couple of days here and other places and still not sure what is the best wheels/tires combo. This for a stock fist, mine is all stock. I dont want the combo to look to small and i dont want the combo to look too big and rub and i dont want the combo to go over the fenders. Here is a few size that i have look but what is the best combo for me? 205/50 on 16x7 or 16x7.5, 215/40 on 17x7 or 17x7.5, 205/45 on 17x7 or 17x7.5?

This is my favorite setup that I have found so far, for looks anyway.18x8 with a 42mm offset. I want to purchase in spring time with my tax return.

I believe he said later in the thread that a 215/35 would probably work best though.

Between the two 17 inch sizes, I was always told wider is better performance wise. And 1/2 inch won't be a significant different anyway.

And the 16 inch will give you a better ride. Just have to decide which set up you're looking for. I'm being a complete hypocrite because I can't decide between 16s or 17s either. Ha. Other thing leaning more toward 16s is the better ride because I travel into the city and I like the cheaper prices, for wheels and tires.

I was ready to go with the 17" but then i found out that the 16" was going to cover more room because of the overall diameter. So im confuse now, which set up will cover more room without rub?

215/40/17x7.5 will fill in the wheel gap the best. 42mm offset will ensure that you won't have any rubbing issues.

Won't 215 stretch more though on a 7.5, which would lead to it not filling the wheel gap as much? Or am I wrong about that??

I just went with team dynamics 1.2 17*7.5 with 53 offset as suggest by PCA to fit as close to stock look and will be going a 215/40 tire for a slightly wider and a touch taller. Not sure if that helps.

The tire/wheel choice is certainly a personal thing associated with "looks", but the OZ Ultra in 17x7 with a 215/40x17 Dunlop is about as good as you can get for grip on summer/wet roads. As for comfort however, the 16x7 OZ Ultra with a 204/45x16 high performance all season will be much better.

I've switched to the OEM wheels with the Potenzas for winter..., until they're worn out.

You're not wrong in theory, but in this example it wouldn't make that much of a difference. 1/2" is only 12-ish mm, or 6mm per side of the tire. That small of an amount wouldn't diminish your sidewall height noticeably.
