Welcome back, man! Since you've been gone, I've gotten my car and spent wads of money track-prepping it, making various custom adjustments (with the help of a local shop and an awesome dealer tech), and, well, fixing mistakes. There are a couple of insane builds on here.
It's nice to see how everyone has progressed with their cars. I don't want to go too crazy with mine. Cobb stage 3 and a possible turbo swap is about as far as I will venture to go. I've seen a few of the crazier builds... I just want to keep mine tame (ie: reliable and cheap transportation but look good coming and going..lol) [:)]

Great to have you back:):)

Watch that mod monster sitting on your shoulder or you will end up doing things like Rod and I have done.....$$$$$$ but sure fun!

Interested in selling the rest of the plugs?

Rick

I just want to go stage 3 and then later do a turbo swap and custom tune. I may try a weight reduction program for my car once the lease ends and I purchase the car. I already returned the extra plugs and got my money back. lol [wink]

this has been incredibly informative thread, thanks for taking the time to keep it updated.

these are the first few mods I want to do with my ST (when I get it, grey obviously); AccessPoint, Short shift, RMM. I've been looking at the mountain version of these mods but they are more expensive. I'm assuming that's because of their partnership with ford. Do you recommend sticking with CoBB?

Great thread, thanks again!

oh! and buy new spark plugs when I get the AP ;)

Thanks alzie. I love the Cobb stuff. It all works as advertised and is top notch quality. It also helps that I have a Cobb outlet here locally (in Plano, Texas). The AP is a must. It completely transforms the Fiesta ST. You will want to get the FSWERKs short shift kit. It is by far the easiest to install, has a 15% or 25% reduction in shifting movement AND is much cheaper than the Mountune. [rockon]

I am scheduled for the stage 3 Cobb install next Wednesday the 29th. I'm hoping the Cobb intercooler helps it run better in this heat.

Cool, I'm not really into paying someone to install something like a short shift.
Anymore exterior mods in the future?

Yeah, it literally took less than 10 minutes to install. I'm thinking about some black projector headlights or a front splitter/spoiler

Stage 3 is done. It definately pulls alot better everywhere than my stage 1 with FSWERKs intake and 3" exhaust. Now to schedule some dyno runs. [:)]

Just some observations and random thoughts on my way back from Cobb: The ECU is still learning, so take that as it may. The first time I went full throttle and held it, the engine hesitated and bucked a little. Subsequent stabs at the throttle have been nice and smooth with excellent power delivery (no more stumbles). I think the plugs needed cleaning off. I am running one step colder Brisk Silvers and I've noticed if I spend alot of time in "economy mode" and then stomp on the gas, I can see a little unburned fuel coming out of the tailpipes. I guess I forgot to mention it was 100+ dgrees here today but the heat is bad. I am running the 93 octane stage 3 OTS map. Time to get the RaceAccess and do some data logging. The IATs are not much lower than the stock IC. I saw 152 degrees while driving in stop and go traffic in 99-100 degree outside temps with the new IC and charge pipes. However, I am still using an open element, underhood intake (FSWERKs) so switching over to a Cobb intake might be of benefit (especially during the summer months). I am also thinking about modifying the factory airbox slightly once I switch to the Cobb intake mainly to increase available air at throttle tip in, but the filter will still be well isolated from engine heat. Ummm, yeahhhh. I'm seeing 21-22 psi in 100 degree air. The most boost I could conjure up on the way yo Cobb was 18.63 psi and the estimaed torque peaked at 223 (once). On my way back (it's 12 degrees hotter mind you) I hit 21.60 psi and 242 estimated torque. I know the torque estimates are not accurate but what I can say is that it has been VERY consistant on my car. On a cold day the most I have ever seen is 266pft with a roll on the throttle at 2000 rpm in 6th gear. In this heat I never see more than around 230, typically it is much less (200-220 is typical with my stage 1 set-up). The 242 number is what I normally get on a 40 degree day. It's 60 degrees warmer than that. lol. It pulls alot harder, although it may have taken a bit from the bottom and given a bit more to the top. Butt dynos are subjective and sometimes lie, but I can tell it is making more power. It is very noticeable. This makes me happy. I'll have to get back to Cobb and do some follow up runs on the dyno. My best stage 1 pull is 172hp and 247 pft but that was without the intake. Since then I have put 23,000 miles on the engine. It is good and loose. Hoping for better numbers.
