I drive a 2014 Ford Fiesta st. Bone stock! Driving the other day 90° weather no issues. I notice my car start to slow down and ended up having zero throttle. My coolant light was on and the temp was pegged all the way hot. Has coolant, thermostat has already been replaced and the overheating recall was done. I get it towed home sat for a day and a half and for some reason the coolant is still pegged hot, coolant light on, no throttle response. I’ve already replaced the ect sensor and nothing!

Might have to pull the battery and reset the ecu. It went into limp mode. I really hope it didnt actually overheat or its gonna be more repairs. ( might be a dud sensor, it can happen)

Is the serpentine belt still on? Thats also an easy check. No belt, no water pump. And the car would only be running on battery because no alternator.

I had that happen to me after a ground (I believe for the fan relay but not entirely sure) was found loose. Tightened it back up and problem solved.

You could replace parts one at a time, or buy a new car and replace them all at once.
Your best bet is, as suggested, scan the PCM for codes, something has failed.

BTW: disconnecting the battery will not fix anything, it will just set another code.

Something's failed. Could be a bad ground, could be something more complicated. Check it. I bet it's simple.

It's a reliable engine. But, it's computerized up the wazoo. Little things can cause problems.
