Over 30k on original Bridgestones - some kind of record?

I've been shopping for tires as I near 30k on my FIST, waiting for my OEM Bridgestones to hit the wear bars. I haven't tracked the car yet, but I do drive like a maniac - I drive this car when I can't ride my motorcycles (bad weather, need to carry a passenger or something larger than an apple, and my driving style is about the same as my riding style). Thing is, it looks like I've still got a few thousand left in the original tires. Since these things handle great, I'm thinking of just buying another set of them when I need to, rather than the alternatives I've been shopping.

Anyone else get this kind of mileage out of the OEMs?

I’m at 27,000 miles on my 16, and I’m not to the wear bars yet.

I like these tires too, but I don’t want to spend $800 to replace them. I’ve heard that the RE71’s are better, and they’re probably cheaper, too. I’m going to check now..

EDIT: It looks like the RE-71R don’t come in the OEM wheel size (seems to be a common problem). I found the stock RE50A for $600 a set which is the cheapest I’ve ever seen them go for.

I just replaced my originals with about 40k on them in March.

Mine were dismounted at 20k, and I thought I drove like a maniac. You can probably get another 2-3k miles out of them if you had to, but I didn't bother.

It makes me wonder... were the reo50 s ever rated for tread wear twice?

Mine being a later built 2016 that may as well have got the 'less dusty' brakes, I can see how Ford could have worked with bridegestone to up the tread wear rating with the relatively high take rate, factory offered, summer only tire, at some point in between. #speculationOnly

I have 60K on mine (but i use Snows in the winter months). I am thinking of getting the firestone Firehawk Indy 500. they seem to be very well liked and they are a very good deal.

I had over 50k on mine but I drive almost all freeway. When I was not on the freeway this car is so much fun.

I dont know lol. I didn't hardly rotate them either. Like 3 times. I have 85k miles right now and its only my second set of tires.

Wow, guess I’m not alone. My lateral grip is still good, based on face-pulling g’s on freeway on ramps, but I’m starting to scrabble for grip off the line. Detailed my car yesterday and put my fingers in the grooves. I’m about a tick over 1/16” above the wear bars.

You guys are doing a hell of a lot better than I am, I'm at 6k miles on my OEM Potenza RE050A's and I don't think I'll make it past 9k. I measured them today with a tread depth gauge and they were from 5/32" to 7/32. This is with no tracking, autocrossing, burnouts or Baja racing, careful checking of tire pressure, some driving like a maniac and some cruising around town. They were rotated once at 5k. What are you guys doing that I'm not doing? I do remember seeing in some other threads that a lot of folks were only getting 8 or 10k miles out of them.

It's not just the accelerating and changing direction that burns tread, it's also when you're bouncing or slowing down; basically any time that you're not steady with speed and direction. The traffic patterns do not lend well to cruising here.

I have little bit of fun sometimes when the conditions are conducive but wouldn't in any sense say that I drive like a maniac. Even when hard on the accelerator, I'm light on the brakes and never weave traffic. Have a Winter set and spend most of the time on two wheels.

Yet have been going through the tread at an accelerated rate. But this is not unexpected and don't consider it "a problem". Myself and the area, have always been harder on tires. As far as what may be having the largest impact, is probably cornering and the stiff suspension coupled with rough roads.

Low tread depth and 70-80+ does not mix so I'll probably unload them at or before the wear mark, depending on their resistance to hydroplaning. At current wear rates, might get another spring/summer/fall out of them; once I rotate back into them from the snow tires.

I have 2 original tires just past 20k miles. Had one tire with a sidewall puncture a few thousand ago so i replaced both so the pair would match. The original tires still have plenty of life left. Great tires and will continue to use these in the future.

Just about going on 30000 on mine. Plenty left.

Reason: senior driven, mostly grocery getter resulting in lousy mileage (27.6). I need to do a highway drive or give it an Italian tuneup.

Well over 32K..........no abuse, correct pressure, not late braking specialist, 15% hard driving on curvy Mtn roads!
