No reverse

Anyone else having this issue? Most of the time it won't go in reverse and it's getting harder to shift to 2nd and 3rd. I had a shop install the SPEC clutch, flywheel and LSD. Getting a lot of clutch clatter too. Just asking if anyone else has similar clutch noise or reverse issue...

I had a lot of chatter too with the spec clutch (puck type friction disc).
It shitted me off so bad I removed the Spec and refitted the OE clutch.
No problems selecting reverse or any other gears but, maybe you could try a cable adjustment.

Yeah, tried that, didn't help, but good thinking. I'm going to have to yank it out and rebuild it again... FML

I second checking the cable adjustment and do it again if done once, much easier than pulling the transaxle out and apart!

Also make sure the clutch is fully disengaging.

If you have done any shifter mods go over them again to ensure everything is correct.

Good luck, really hope you find a simple solution.

I don't have a shifter mod but I did go back through checking cable adjustment, fluid level, mounts, bolts, all visual stuff.. I did get some PMs from others that had the SPEC system and told me they had problems with noise and hard shifting too.. we'll see what gives when I pull it

Sorry you have to pull it again:(

More things to test first.

Bleed the clutch even if already done once.

Will it shift into the gears when engine off, clutch in?

Also try rolling the car in gear but clutch pedal in, engine off to see what happens.

Another test is to put it in neutral and crank the engine, clutch out, to help ensure fully disengaged.

Has this been the issue since the first time drove it after put back together? If so perhaps the disk is in backwards or something not right with the TOB.

If none of these are the issue and the clutch looks good then the transaxle may of not been assembled properly. It is a pretty easy one to figure out when putting it back together but if the gear selectors were out of alignment but that could be the issue. When I did mine I was much easier than others I have done in the past.

Is it a single mass or lightweight flywheel? If so, expect chatter. It's normal. I had a lightweight flywheel once. I went nuts at first until the forum community explained things. I enjoyed that setup for at least a year without issue.
