After about 1 year of lurking on the forum and a few months of searching for "the one" I finally joined the club on Monday 5/2! Was originally looking for a Molten Orange with Recaros and nothing else but last week a local dealer that I'd been in contact with made me an offer I couldn't refuse for a loaded MO (just under 23k before TTL). Purchased with 51 mi on the clock and now at about 250 and loving every minute of it so far. I took it to some local canyon roads on the way home from work the other day and I am amazed at the car's capabilities. This little hatch is way quicker on tight technical canyon roads than it has any right to be! My wife and I have been planning for this for a while so we're pretty stoked! My previous ownership experience is all over the place, from a VW R32 (still miss that 3.2L VR6), to an MR2 Spyder, with my last fun/weekend car being a '94 Miata R. I was planning to pick up a ND Miata but a 2 mo. old baby at home necessitated at least some form of functional back seats (Toyobaru didn't count) so the FiST was about the only option that really spoke to me.
Other than the No Pistons gas pedal spacer on the way I plan to keep the car mostly stock for a while, except for a few small things to prep it for trackdays. I've been involved in motorsports off-and-on since I got my license (I'm 35 now) with my most recent endeavor being a few years racing Formula Mazda in the SCCA and NASA. I've been away from the track for a little while and I'm definitely looking to get back out there with this car! Hope to meet some of the south bay FiST folks soon!
