Okay serious question... GTX28 or GT25, I am definitely going to get one. I put in a purchase order today with Cobb SoCal for their stage3. With that being said, I'm not sure what turbo to get... I have been driving big power imports for the last decade so I do like the idea of more top end power with the GTX28. I have 2 concerns 1. The Cobb dp is catted into a 2.5" exhaust which might not produce desired results with the bigger turbo. 2. The car's reliability as well as its street drivability. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
1.6 Can only move so much air, 2.5 inches is plenty

Reliability and big turbo probably aren't the best things to have in the same sentence lol. Could say goodbye to your warranty for sure. As for drivability I don't imagine it would be TOO crazy but we are talking about a 300+whp car with the gtx kit which moves the power and torque band considerably to the right.

Hi mate,

How much boost to get the HP with these turbos?
The GT2554R was pretty well taxed, I believe somewhere in the 25-28psi range. The GTX2860R was somewhere in the 26-28psi range as well. The GTX seemed to offer more usable power and efficiency over the 2554.

Cheers,
-Braden @ COBB

Braden,

Are you guys offering the tune updates for the ATP kits?

Not at the moment. Once we've reviewed all possible upgrade options and have some real world results we may look to offer something that falls into our next Staged path.

I am going a different direction, I just need more bottom end that the GTX and more top end than the GT25 the ATP turbos miss the sweet spot for me, unfortunately as it would be far easier than what I am going to do but for many they will be great!

Thanks for the info Braden, mmm I was thinking 16-20psi with the higher flowing Garretts, that surprizes me.

PCA, great vendor, company, owner, most highly recommended!

But, please do look at the BW as it seems a better solution for most of us.

Most sincerely,
Rick

What is it you don't like about the Garrett turbos Rick, something in the dyno graphs?.

PCA also sells the BW EFR line. Until Rick has a bolt on solution, the ATP Garrett is the only kid on the block. The EFR is known for quick spool and wider power band than the Garrett. Garrett's GTX line addresses the spool issue to a point, but does not do much else. This is not to say the Garrett is junk. By far, the Garrett GT line have been successful for years. Something better is out now, and costs a bit more.
