You are correct, it sounds like you would be a lot close to TT3. There is also modifiers in the rulebook to adjust depending on what tire you are running and we get a small benefit for being FWD and etc. But yes you are definitely going to be classed higher than I anticipated. I did not realize how light your car was.
Right! That's a very competitive class and depending on the event, sometimes the fastest time of day is set there. There is definitely some strategy here! I like the idea of tuning approach to use tires that are most beneficial. What's the hot tire now for our cars?

When it comes to NASA, people usually do 1 of 2 main strategies from what I see. They either run A LOT of grip with Hoosier A7 and drop their power to accommodate. OR they run tires like Toyo RR, Toyo R, Maxxis RC1 or any other tire that allows them to increase their power the most. You will see A LOT of people running toyos because the contingency prizes are really good. All the high budget cars are typically running Hoosier. Whether a high budget car is competitive or not is usually hit or miss in the socal region from what I see. I am faster than multiple people on slicks in my class (TT6) and even some in TT5. But the socal leader in TT5 is typically like 8 seconds ahead of my lap times (he runs toyos)

^This is the link to the classing calculator everyone uses. You can punch in you power and weight and then afterwards just check the boxes based on tires, width of tires, and check the boxes on any other applicable boxes. Then you will know exactly which class you fall in or what you need to do for the class of your choosing. FYI NASA socal does random weight inspections at every event I have been to. They also do dyno checks to confirm power if you are within 1s of your class record.

So…on the dyno, the car pulls hard and has no issues. This car has run many tunes (on many engines!). It contributed to the development of the current Mountune long block (running the V2 cams).

Anyhow, it is presently on a 91 octane Cobb tune. On the road, it runs into fuel cut around 5K when under WOT. This is repeatable. Nothing stands out as wrong and is a big reason I am thinking about cutting out the OEM ECU completely. This is a dedicated race car and does not need to be street legal (don’t need anything beyond a good map).

If I can’t get a standalone ECU, I need to find a tuner that can work on this. I know Cobb has been hamstrung with recent EPA fines and restrictions…but I understand there are some dealers that still have the old platform available to them.
Hit up Westley Kimble for tuning. Absolute wizard. He’s not on the forum much but he’s the real deal and done all of the development with Nostrum performance on their hpfp and injectors and has designed his own in take fuel pump which I’m running and can support 400+ whp. His company is Phul Performance but he’s working with ECS tuning too I believe. He did my 93 tune and will be taking the car to him to dyno tune E85 soon. I’ll PM you his #
