I'm a basshead so the lack of subs was disturbing. Wanted to keep cargo space, stay lightweight, and be able to remove quickly to access the my spare. Did a little math and had just enough room to squeeze two 12" Infinity Reference shallow subs. I tucked the amp into the box and stashed the converter on the front side. Anderson connector for power so and the LC2i has quick connects so the whole thing comes out in 20 seconds. Box is made of 3/4" maple plywood and all in is 38lb. She doesn't beating the block down, but plenty for the tiny cabin.

Started off by test fitting and laying out. I 3d printed templates to use with a router for the amp cutout.

Making sure the rough-built box fits.

Cut sub holes and used a vinyl decal to mask the white before the black. Box Stencil.jpg
Painted black, wired, and stuffed to fake a little more box volume. Box Painted.jpg
These shallow subs were key to making this all work.

Box fit great and looks good enough to never be seen.

Cargo cover hides everything and lets me bring home groceries.

Both @XR650R and @Capri to ST said you had to build a second one and send it to me for free.

Sealed box or ported? How much RMS driving two 12"? What's the capacity of each speaker? Are you actually hearing it or mainly just feeling it?

How does the LC2i compare to having sub-outs on a quality head unit?

Have a single round version of the Solo-Baric 10" Kicker in a JBS ported tube driven by 600RMS Alpine amp that I simply moved over from my prior vehicle. The amp has its own speaker-level inputs that I'm using. With the Alpine head unit subwoofer-out, tuned for bass I could actually hear as opposed to just feel, it seemed almost limitless but with this factory head unit I can't really take advantage of, or use that power. (hence, the LC2i question)

I don’t build for others, I’m too critical of my work to charge someone, and I sure don’t work for free.

Sealed, amp is 600rms, subs are 250rms (but 93db sens which is key), and I guess heard and felt? Never really had it one way or the other. I’d rather have RCA outs every time, I can’t imagine anyone would use a line converter instead but they’re great for factory integration and when I get it in a warm building I’ll set the AccuBass and that’ll help at higher volume because the Sony system loves doing weird crap.

If you set all your gains correctly the signal source shouldn’t effect volume. The amps gain control is to offset signal strength, so sounds like you have something else going on, either under-tuned now or over-tuned before.
