I went to install my Boomba shifter kit, pulled my battery and the box was full of dried battery acid. Found acid on the back of the computer and the bracket that holds the battery box. It looks like the acid leaked out where the top of the battery is bonded to the case, it's a stock Motorcraft, only 2 years old with 7,500k. I had to drill the plastic rivet out that holds the metal frame into box to get all the corrosion out. I'll have to get paint and primer when I go get a new battery. Oh and the pocket where the back bolt in the bottom of the box goes was totally full of acid. Good times were had by all. I did get the Boomba parts installed.

WHY I will only buy an AGM battery, or a lithium (IF they come down in price, and become more reliable, and function better with a stock alternator/generator) from now on. [wink]
Where do you find an AGM to fit a Fiesta ST. Neither Interstate nor Optima make a direct fit.

Found one at Advance, DieHard Platinum AGM Battery, Group Size 96R, 590 CCA
I've had that one in my car for about a year, it's been just fine. The cleanup you had to do sounds like a real PITA, that is exactly what I was hoping to avoid by getting an AGM battery as @M-Sport fan said above.
When I got it, the website called it a Diehard, but it was actually branded AutoCraft, the previous branding, when I got it. Around that time, Advance Auto had bought the Diehard name, and from my investigation it appeared to be the exact same battery, just with the old label, so I decided not to worry about it too much. They had the same part number and all the same specs, and I'm sure by now in any event they've made the transition to labeling them as Diehards.

Sorry to hear.

That's the exact one I plan to get in the next few months. I keep cleaning my terminals and the acid keeps coming right back. And I'm getting weak startup cranks every now and then. It's time to pull it. Mine lasted almost 5yrs and 62k.

About to google this. Where do you pick yours up?
Through Summit Racing (I was the one who cajoled them to start carrying our 96R app from this company).

WITH (free) shipping, it came out to less $$$ than the walk into the store, AA Autocraft/Die Hard version's price (almost 2 years ago), BUT, of course, If anything happens it will NOT be as easy for me to just pop into my local Advance Auto, and get it warrantied/exchanged.
I am hoping, (and trusting Odyssey's good name/reliability rep), that I never have to worry about that scenario. [wink]

BTW; The SEARS Die Hard labeled AGM I had in my '00 Z28 WAS actually a re-labeled/rebranded, different color case, Odyssey Performance Series battery. [:)]

Got the Die Quick from Advance, $219 after core turn in. 3 year warranty for what that is worth. I spent 2 hours cleaning battery acid out of the box, brackets and surrounding surfaces. Then 2 hours prepping and painting the metal bracket that goes inside the battery box. To me the cost of the battery is well worth it.

I went to Summit's site, no batteries listed at all for the Fiesta ST.

They might still consider it a special order only, not sure. [dunno]

They DID special order it in/drop ship it for me, so anyone looking for one from that vendor may have to speak to a sales rep.
Sounds about right, not a lot of parts unless it says Mustang, Corvette, Challenger

I Made a Group size 48 series AGM fit my battery tray with some slight tray modification. It is a tight fit but the battery fit like a glove. Plus i got it for like $20 in some Tax as Autozone was clearancing them out and wanted them Gone. And it even came with a 3 year free replacement.

Wondering if you got this to support a subwoofer or purely just for performance/safety reasons.

No, no aftermarket in car entertainment for me, as I don't want the extra weight, and my ears (namely, the cilia in my cochlea) are already dead, so just no (for me) to more; power/amps/decibels/window and ground shaking.
(But I will eventually swap out the factory speakers for better, much more efficient ones just because; distortion. [wink])

I mainly got the AGM to make sure that the whole area in, around, and BELOW the battery tray, as well as the co$tly cables, do not disintegrate, like they have for many on here with flooded lead acid batteries.

Besides, it is NOT one of those 16 volt AGM aftermarket in car entertainment supporting power sources like those marketed to the IASCA/MECA/etc. crowd.
